Need advice on a 05 purchase

Looking at a 05 Tacoma Double Cab with a sport package tomorrow. What should I be looking for as far as wear, abuse or anything else. It has 90K miles. Any help on questions I should ask would be appreciated too. This will be my first truck, I have wanted a Tacoma for a long time. Thanks!

90k is low for an 05. make sure they did the 90k mile service (changed plugs, both diffs and t case oils, engine air filter, changed oil, tightened prop shaft), take it for a ride and make sure there is no whistling noises from front windshield, look at rear leaf springs and make sure there are 4 in the packs on both sides, and that theyre in good shape. make sure CD player/changer works right, and doesnt just spit out CD's, make sure the truck shifts fine, and not harshly, etc...

If I was you do a Carfax on it, never know ,also bring a creeper and check for RUST along frame, in front under cab,I know they are bad for rust, check front quarter panel crap is always in there, like 650H1 said check for any leaks, pull air filter and look to see if it's new , you will have some wear and tear, if you are not sure bring it to a local dealership and let them go threw it. It will cost about $75 , a peace of mind will make you feel you better about purchase

 

Forgot to mention this is from a non Toyota dealership. The carfax is clean, been studying it all night. Even added the vin to my toyota owners page to see if there were any dealer services. Just a few things were on there, no major services. If the 90k service appears to not have been done.. Do you think this is negotiable in the final price ?

 

yes, price a complete 90K service ,use it to bring down price, don't be afraid to walk away, I bought a 07' w/ 60k, I walked away the guy brought down price and delivered it to me. You might have to do a few things to truck , but it's a Toyota, stay on TW for awhile, everyone is pretty helpful and can help you if you have any problems , just Ask.

 

They let me take the car for a couple hours. Sitting at a Toyota dealership, waiting for an inspection right now. I think it's worth it to pay for a inspection and let them know what I am going to have to put into it if I purchase it.

 

I had an 05 dc sport. Loved it!
Check the engine mounts, some rusted and collasped in rust belt states.
They changed the mount design in 06.

Also, check the overhead compass. 05/06 dies with older design 501 resistors.
Had to do the TW compass mod twice.

Might wanna check the air filter and cabin filter. Shows the previous owners
