I just traded in my 2011 Taco TRD DC 4x4 for the 2013 DC 4x4 Limited.

I don’t rock climb or go off-roading, just mainly highway/city and towing a motorcycle in the bed of the truck.

What mods do you think I should do first, if any?

I would like to maintain or get better gas mileage if possible from a mod.

    Thanks

    Copied from the MPG sticky

not many things to add MPG but here are a few things.

Put in a high flow drop in airfilter (AFE is recommended)
    Keep tires aired up
    Use synthetic fluids
Get a scangauge to assess your driving habbits
And drive like there is an egg under the accelerator
Remove the secondary (Charcoal) air filter (4 cyl owners tend to see more benefit than 6 cyls)

Any other mods that might be useful/beneficial to the 13 Limited without making the MPG worse such as adding large nobby tires?

    Larger tires will hurt mpg.

i would use the search function and also check the build threads.

i can tell you how to spend your money but what good does that do. look on the website alittle, find some things you like and get those.

anything that adds weight will hurt MPGs, larger tires, hurt MPGs exhaust and intakes CAN hurt MPGs.
make your truck your truck. if you want 20+ MPGs and have the 4.0l you made a bad mistake the Tacoma is not a Camry. it is a good 3/4 sized truck.

im not trying to be mean but it is ridiculous to just say, "how should i spend my money? but i have rules too!"

You aren't going to make your mpg better in really any way.. maybe a cover over the bed would help..

your gas milage is going to suck on these trucks.. you'd probably be better with a 6.2L Raptor.. I on average get 14.5 - 15.5 mph on my stock TRD Long Bed with a V6.

I recently upgraded tire size from 265/65/17 to 265/70/r17. That's a TINY jump. I've not noticed any less gas milage. I got BFG TA/KO's but definitely not any more..

So if you have a question about how to mod the truck for what you want to do –*we'll be happy to help

I think that this is a fine question for a new person. One can ask about modding their truck and at the same time say that they don't want to lose gas milage. He's a new person. Don't give him such a hard time about putting a rule on his question. Everything else you said was true though.

I get 19mpg out of my Tacoma. The only time I've seen that out of my Raptor, was going downhill, with cruise set at 55mph. My average was just over 16mpg, but it was mostly highway and driving like grandpa. Off-road and driving like you stole it, it was 7-8mpg. Raptor is a 6-speed auto, while Taco is only 5, I bet if it was 6 as well, you could see 20-22 even in mixed driving.

If you ever cross a creek or dip in a mud pit: Rear Differential Breather Mod (and spare tire flip mod at the same time)... cheap, easy, and could save your rear (end)! See link in my sig.

That is exactly what I was looking for, a Mod that will benefitmy Taco without hurting gas mileage (and it won’t cost an arm and a leg) LOL
