so i get a letter today from the dmv. im thinking "f*ck, another lame bill" but woeth me i open it and its a late bill from the dmvl. i run outside to check whitch vehicle its from, and its from my 4runner. damn tags expired in april. i recieved no first letter and was under the impression that the dealership i got the truck from was gonna pay it. so now it has a big ass $88 fee on it. $200 total, damn you shwarzanegger:mad: so who is at fault? i paid it off to be on the safe side, but im thinkin someone owes me some $$.

    -end rant

When did you buy the 4runner? I think the dealerships pay for them only if registration is due at time of purchase on used vehicles. I could be wrong though.

i bought the truck in december, tags expired in april. the renewal shows up like a month before they are due, which would have been march, which means the smog from the stealership wouldve still been good...right:confused:

You are responsible for tag, title, license and registration of your vehicle at the time of purchase. Any agreement you make with the dealership is between the two of you. But, at the end of the day, you are still going to be the one that gets the fine as you are the owner.

Maybe you only paid the title transfer and sales tax and not registration as the registration was only due at April.
