Who prefers the stock (TRD) seats over Wet Okole?

I'm on the fence about getting the seat covers. Haven't seen them in person, but there's a group buy ending tomorrow I may get in on. Everyone who has them seems to rave about them, but from the pictures I'm not that impressed. I feel like they cheapen the cabin. I know it's a matter of personal taste, but I wanted to hear from people who have seen/used them and prefer no covers.

I got them for the functional purpose. i always have "wet okole" from going to the beach, and they work out great.

 

If you work out of our truck like seat covers are a must. If u have kids covers are a must. If u offroad covers. If truck is grocery getter no need.

 

No complaints about my TRD seat covers.

I say cover them. I hate the stock seat material because they stain sooooo easily. I spilled a little water on my lap the other day and my seat looks like I s**t my pants and did a shotty job cleaning it. I am going to cover mine but I'm not a huge fan of the wet okoles because they look a little cheap to me. I am seriously considering the katzkins though. I think they look great, offer added stain resistance and you can go heated seats while your at it. My only concern with the leatherish seats is how they'll hold up when I throw my dog in the back seat.

 

If you want leather but have a dog you could always get a cheap nylon cover for the back. I bought a $20 cover to put over my clazzios when I put my dogs in the truck.

 

The stock fabric doesn't last long if you slide in and out. I like the look of it, but we have a couple company tacomas, and the edges of both drivers and passenger seats are worn halfway through the foam. Once my wet okoles wear out, I will replace them with another set, and my seats will still look brand new.

 

I have had W.O. in my last 3 trucks.
My last set was on almost 5 yrs & the seats looked new underneath.
They held up to dogs, camping, dirt, salt, kids, a whole cup of coffee spilled..
I took them off & sold them for they were for a sr5 seat.
I doubt the stock seat covers in my 2013 trd would have held up to the same.
Definitely am in for the GB.

 

i used to love the stock TRD seats... until I realized you can get them dirty just by looking at them

 

I love the look and feel of my Wet Okoles over the factory TRD seat material. For me the stain and water resistantance is a plus. I'd buy them again! Some say they cause you to sweat more, but IMO no worse then factory seats.

 

Thanks for all the feedback. I don't drive much at all... we're talking less than 5,000 miles per year + I have two other cars (with my special lady friend). I'm not too concerned about resale value either and not afraid to USE the truck and get it dirty. But I do mountain bike and whitewater kayak a bunch and am usually wet and dirty from that. I've gotten used to bringing towels to cover the seats in the other cars, but with the Tacoma I don't want to worry about getting it dirty. So maybe Wet Okoles are for me as long as they don't cheapen the cabin too much...

 

Yep, as hot as it is here, it makes no difference. Still gonna sweat.

Wet Okoles are one of the BEST investments I made in my truck. LOVE them

 

the wet okies are like a huge maxi pad for your seats.

I would rather wear out the seat and buy a new cover for it.

If they were cheap I'd have no problem...but they are $400+ for a set! At that price, I'd rather replace the seats when/if they wear out 15 years down the line than pay $400 to protect a wear and tear item.

 

Wet Okole all the way. They are actually nice enough to justify the price. They fit so well they look factory and look BETTER than stock.
