A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
They fit but I wouldn't run anything wider then 10.50 cause it'll be to close to the UCA's.

later Tacoma have 5.25" wheel backspacing...
    1st gens have 4.50 bs'ing.

Tho' it can bolt up... I don't think it would fit well

With skinny tires you might pull it off...
But there are better fitment choices to be had.

it's possible you could get away with it using wheel spacers
    if you don't mind those.

I have a set of 17" Sequoia / Tundra wheels on my 98 and they fit just fine, but the offset on my wheels could be different because they're off of an 07.

I ran those same wheels on my 99 Tacoma until I scored some TRD Beadlocks. Those wheels are my favorite all time Toyota OEM wheels they look good on any toyota they are mounted to. Nice ride!

I tried the 17" sport wheels on my 01 and with the oem size tires I had about 1/16" clearance from my upper control arm.
So I went with some 16" 2nd Gen TRD wheels, which I like better than the 17"sports anyways
I was told the sports have 5.5" BS and the TRD's are 5" or 5.25" BS and the 1st gens wheels are 4.5"
When I put my 2nd gen 16" TRD wheels on with 265-70r16's they have about .5-.75" clearance which I feel much safer about...

I actually really like the placement of the light bar, makes you look like a park ranger patrol. Truck looks badass.

Now all you need is the state seal on the side!

The lightbar on top is a red/blue emergency lightbar. The 3 lights on front are 2 6" Rigid Industries SR's and a 20" E series.

These are my favorite rims off of any Toyota! Those were only on the limited Tundra models correct? Not sure about the Sequoias. Limited or not.

You'll have to ask Manuel if he likes them first. ;)

Any stock wheels for Tacomas will fit with locking hubs except ones with a ring around the hub for a center cap. Usually this is only on aftermarket ones.

I have a 2008 4cyl 5spd 4x4 access cab tacoma with steel wheels. I picked up a set of 2017 TRD offroad alloy rims, (see pic of what they look like here: https://twstatic.net/attachments/2017trdoffroadwheel-jpg.1331000/ *not my pic, just online link to pic).

When I was trying to have them installed at a tire shop I was told the don't fit because of "curvature" . . I assume backspace? I was told to purchase wheel spacers to address the issue. After some online looking and some phone calls to a few tire shops it seems maybe "hub rings" are what I am seeking?

If anyone could help me out and provide a link to what I need to purchase to get these wheels on my truck I would be super super grateful.

BTW, Safety is a key issue for me (daily commuter vehicle, occasionally drive on forest roads, but no crazy off-roading for me . . . damaged too many vehicles in the past), so any thoughts on safety and pros/cons would be greatly appreciated.

you should ask this in the 2nd Gen forum, or the wheel/tire forum.

Unless you went with some really wide tire you shouldn't have any issues as the wheels should be the same 5.25" backspacing for 2nd/3rd Gen. I would go to a different tire place.

also, a few 1st Gen people run those with stock tire size without problems.
