Just curious. I seem to fill up when I still have 1/4 tank left as I end up taking a long trip and just need a full tank. So, I haven't seen the light yet.

So, just for giggles, how many miles do you get on your Taco before the fuel light/warning comes on?

My light comes on after about 17.5 gallons which is usually 400 to 440 miles depending on the season. On my trip back from Canada last summer I had over 500 miles before it lit.

There have been a few comments in the threads about how much fuel is left when the light comes on. From what I read (and experience) there's about 3 gallons left when the light first comes on. For me that's about 40 more miles I'll go as I don't want to drain the tank all the way down. (20mpg average).. When towing it's about 15 miles (10mpg average).

Damn...I need to lay off the gas pedal, I usually get about 250 when the light comes up.
I guess the 285/70/17 BFG MT's aren't helping at all.

I4 or V6 ? how many miles on the odometer?

I usually get about 320 miles before a quarter of a tank. i don't like going below a quarter of a tank so i don't even know if there is a low fuel light in my truck.

I have never seen my light. I don't think I've let it get below 1/8 tank.

I recently tested this out of curiosity, and i found that i get around 300 miles before the light comes on when i drive normally. i got around 190 on a half tank driving 90 down the freeway will the windows down the other day. i thought that was pretty good lol.

I was going to call you all crack heads!

I've never seen the light and I've ran it low a few times. Then I decided to gander a peek in the owners manual and Yes, I do have a fuel warning light.
I guess it's still true, you learn something new everyday!

I burned my first tank of gas since I purchased my 07 last week. To my surprise, the light came on at 215 miles which I find kind of low. I had a new set of BF clones installed before I took delivery as I did not want to run the 22" wheels while we still have snow. I did not run it hard as I was curious as to what I would get. This is my first truck and I knew fro the start that gas mileage is not why I was buying it. Even so, is there something I could check that could be affecting mileage? It's an automatic access cab that originated in CO. Great site, really enjoying it. Love the truck!

Just yesterday I ran things a little lower than usual...

The light comes on surprisingly early....the needle is about 1/8" away from the "E" line. When I finally did fill up the tank - I put 18.05gallons in it and got 311 miles at that point. The needle still wasn't ON the "E" line yet.

Our tanks are what....21 gallons? So technically, I still had 3 gallons of gas left when I filled up?

I don't understand why the light comes on so early... The light came on before I left work (9miles) and after work, I drove about 7 miles to the gas station....Let's say I had 2.5 gallons left in the tank... which would give me about 60miles before running dry? That seems like a lotta miles...

My light comes on when I have about 3 1/2 gallons left in the tank which is about what I'd expect. It's a reminder that it's time to start looking for fuel more than a warning that the truck is about to stop. :D

    Yeah, 21 gal tank.

It's an early warning. So if it comes on and you're not parked in a gas station, then you have time to find one. My Corolla does it too, and at the 3 gallon mark also.

I like it because I'm not always near a gas station or I know it's $0.10 cheaper in the next town so I run the numbers in my head to make sure I can make it. Then I fill up with the lower price. :D I figure with 3 gallons left I have at least 45 miles before it runs dry. (45miles because it's easier to do 15mpg*3gal, and that's usually the lowest I get. It also gives me a safety margin since the truck usually gets 17-18mpg. I also reset a trip meter when the light comes on to keep track.)

With that method I have never run out of gas unlike my wife. :D And other friends I know.
