Thank you! Im super stoked on all of the new things I have learned here already. I do what I can. My dad also helps me with some things, and hes a motor head but some things about toyotas are new to him too.
I came here in search of images for inspiration to try to figure out what kind of wheels I want. Im still not sure what size I will be going up to. Any suggestions there as for what might be best?
I cant stand how people in this area get big ass wheels and little rubber band tires on their yotas. Total waste.

You are correct, I do happen to be a girl.

 

15" wheels are the way to go for our trucks, gives you more tire, and tires are much cheaper do to the small wheel size. What size tires are you looking to run?

 

You are not the only one who likes to see more tire than rim. As Dave mentioned, there are tons of variations available for the 15 inch rim, which is the stock size for the 95-97 and some higher Tacoma trucks. I will be running 33s on mine shortly, and Dave has some nice 37s that fit well, with minimal contact.

Yes, I do want to have 15s. Im really not sure what size tire I want and also kind of wanted your guys opinion on the matter. Especially hearing from experience on what rubs alot or not. I am also slightly worried about gas mileage.
I don't have a lift, and want one..but its gotta all be done right and I don't have the cash to fund that right now. It has 31's on it, and I want to maybe have 33's but honestly I don't even really know, which is yet another reason why I joined here.

 

I like the look of 285/75/16, looks clean and performs well. It is a 34" tall tire. But it is a 16" rim.

 

Thanks for your suggestion! I do look forward to hearing more from others too. Is that what you have? If so....did you notice a change in gas mileage or rubbing? Lol I hate to ask all of these stupid questions..Would a lift be required to have 34s?

I can't remember if I didn't mention it or had a typo or something but the stock wheels on it now are 16's. Im still not 100% on anything, so always open to suggestion.

Actually, a 33X12.5-15 is a true 33" tire. 285/75/16 is a 32 3/4ish. But most tire brands are different from eachother

 

15" tires are also cheaper than 16". So theres no point in buying new wheels and a more expensive tire. If you want a 33" tire, get a 33x10.5-15 BFG A/T. Looks good, fits on a 2" lift, and gets good mileage.

EDIT: Just read that you have 16's... You could get 255/85/16's They are a true 33" tire but skinnier than the 285's. So your mileage would be better and they wont rub as much

No I have a wider tire. But my brother has them. He has to do the pinch weld mod that's it. And his tires are like 34 and 1/2" tall filled up.

15 sounds like what I will be doing. Still not 100% on the size of tire I want but that isn't really rocket science. My main point is that I want a new look, so I wont be keeping these wheels on it. Id probably sell them on CL, or just save them incase something happens. Ive been known to pop tires from time to time
I want wider wheels/tires, but not sure that that will happen.

 

The way my truck is set up its wide and I love the way it looks. I would go wit 33/12.5/15 but that's just me. Keepn a couple spare tires isn't a bad idea I got 3 spares

 

I looked at your photos..are those the same wheels/tires on it?? It looks pretty good. That is actually sort of the style of wheel I think I want..But more holes. Oh great that just sounds dirty.

 

The tires on the truck are Yokohama geolanders at. My spare tires are buckshots. They were what was on the truck when I got the Yokohama i just kept the best 2 for spares and already had a spare tire underneath

 

My suggestion is to do as you are, and do a lot of research. There are a lot of tire and wheel combinations that you can do. MOST of the trucks that run 33 inch tires need to have a lift to fit them. It also depends on things such as are you using this to mall-crawl, or will you be doing any serious off-roading? As your vehicle travels off-axis the tires get stuffed into the wheel well areas, increasing the risk of rubbing/making contact. There are a bunch of threads that talk about tire size that you will find helpful if your search. My suggestion is be cautious about wheel spacers, and large off-set numbers. These can stress your wheel bearings, and the Tacoma tends to be weak in that area.
