That is about as much fun any one can have in the snow. For years I did communications for the Maine woods pro rally where we raced on the logging roads right into the night. We hosted the International Pro Rally one year that was a great rally!

the good news is you can still get to lots of places in a pre-runner, 2WD (or your AWD, or FWD) or 4WD, and getting there can be a lot of fun, challenge, and skill improving experience! No pissing required.

The title of this thread should be

    enough to go over stuff
If you read the whole thread you know I haven't posted in a while. Took the truck up to Tahoe yesterday. Truck did great in about 6 inches of snow on an unplowed road up to the cabin. It may not be a capable as your guys 4*4's but it did good enough for me. If there had been more snow or the road steeper I probably would have needed chains. My fake truck is good for towing and hauling and my tires do well for being the retarted cousin of the duratrac. There are some funny comments on this thread it was a good read. The video of wheeling in the snow with the dog was awesome. And no I could not do that in my prerunner. Thanks guys.

I drove through a two foot snow storm up the east coast right before Christmas 2009. Only "mod" I had was Firestone Destination A/T tires. I didn't have one problem. I did, however, see many vehicles stuck, including one TRD OR 4X4 down in the median saying hello to a guardrail.

This is anecdotal evidence but I do find it funny that some take it so seriously. At 42, I couldn't care less what anyone thinks about anything. My truck has done everything I've asked of it and done it well.

The OP's question was is a Prerunner more capable than a 4x4 in snow and the only answer to that is no

Of course 4wd is better in snow but the driver is a huge component, not saying im proud of it but I would often take my toyota Corolla into R2 territory and surf it out with skill alone. But at a certain point you just get stuck with 2 wheels.

Also I feel your pain m8, I did the same thing and got a prerunner for economy reasons, lame. Make the best of your error and take advantage of your flexible front end with less to break. I put 5000 into my suspension, that thing is a beast in the desert :)

Sorry Oz but your wrong, these people who drove in a snow storm once in a pre runner and made it through have convinced me to sell my truck and get a pre runner. My truck does get 'stuck' fairly often though in 2HI setting during the 7 months of the year it sees snow so I guess a pre runner must be different to being in 2HI?
