Hey loco, what fees are involved with the "Don't Tread On Me" plate? I was looking at it in DMV the other day, but they had no info on it in the book.

 

No. I picked um over at advance auto. They are pro burners. I was never planning on putting anything in those two cut outs but for 20 bucks who cares.

 

I think it was 10 bucks as a one time fee for the plate. And maybe a 10 each year fee...can't remember.

All I know is I can put custom plates on both cars and both bikes for less than the great communist state of California was charging me for registering just my old Tundra 480$ a year!!!! Never going back!!!

 

My miller tig welder came in yesterday. .finally tried it out today...works good...need to keep playing with it though..and need a foot pedal...

 

Wish I knew how to weld.

I was planning a multi step evolution with my sliders.

1: Assemble
2: Prime/Paint all except gussets
3: Weld on truck
4: Prime paint welds

Your way looks easier, but I want to get it right. How did you rattle can the parts under the truck?

 

Its not hard..just takes practice. .more you do it the better you get..im just getting into tig now and love it..I need some work but will get better

 

If Barry is doing yours then I would recommend having him weld on the legs and then paint the big assembly. Once he has it welded on paint the plates and where the legs are welded to it. I think it would be a better job that way. I painted the legs and the frame within a few hours of the weld job and had been waiting for good weather do finish it all off.

The way I did it is fine as I way over taped the truck so I could hit every angle needed. All in all it took less than 2 hours to prep and paint both sides my way. Touch ups will take much less time as I went with 4 coats and 4 cans on my sliders.

 

Ohhhh and to get those hard to reach places you basically need to spray paint both arms and your face...

 

That's for damn sure.

 

At first I thought it was just the way I was doing it but after the job was done I figured that was just the way it had to be done and didn't see any alternative.

 

Nice... I'd like to get a Miller Syncrowave 180 I think it is, everytime I have that kinda extra cash though it goes toward sometbing else. I never tried TIG.

 

I picked up my miller diversion 180 for 1200 from my uncle who welds..double what I paid for my hobart mig and half what I paid for my miller bobcat stick. .Although I use that as my generator too

 

To hell with a foot pedal.

 

I like the control more with the pedal..this has a small roll switch on the handle...I dont like it...got my argon flow at 15 as well..seem right?

 

I wouldn't think the argon flow would differ much from a MIG

You have some nice machines, I'm jelly.... my MIG and stick are just cheapy Lincolns. The little MIG has held up pretty well though, had it for about 7 years or so now. I only do it for a hobby so I have a hard time justifying big money. One day the right deal on a used TIG will pop up though.
