Thanks..its a hobby for me as well. .but I also do it at work too..I love it tho..we just got an iron worker at work and man that thing is bad ass..I see alot of fab in my future

I think burry is the only one with a tube bender . During the summer I plan on making a lot of my own stuff.

 

Nice... yeah I've never taken a class or had training. I've read some books on metalurgy and welding then just practiced until I could lay a bead that seemed decent. I enjoy making and fixing stuff with it.... Got a little drill press for Xmas, and I've got a nice bench and angle grinder, so I do some basic stuff, nothing crazy.

 

Wish I had the tools to do something like that.

Never had a class either..uncles are welders. .learned from them...I dont weld alot at work just when shit breaks..but I agree it's much better welding at home on my own shit than at work

I have 3 remotes for my torches all east to west. I run my gas at a range from 10 to 25 psi. All depending on what i weld and if im inside or outside

I'm going to attempt a rear bumper with a swingout tire carrier. No bends, mostly box tubing, so I'm hoping I can make something nice.

That's what I was thinking, depends on how and where you are welding, Argon being heavier than air.

If I'm welding directly over top of something I'll run at about 10-12, if I'm upside down I'll bump it up to about 15-18, not sure if it's perfect but usually gets the job done.

Yeah I don't know if I'd be able to spend the time at home welding for people if I did it all day, Burry sounds like he's a welder by trade, I give props to him for as much time as I hear him spending doing things for people. Probably different though also if you're making side cash with it..... I was saying in another thread as well I'm skeptical of welding on someone else's truck. It's different when it's your own stuff, if it fails you can only point the finger at yourself.

 

All my tig will be done inside. .stick and mig everywhere..ill play with some settings more today.. first I gotta install some lift and these on a brute force and then we gotta try it out
