    Thanks bro.

Like I said, I don't understand why they didn't investigate the plate match when they had it, last year.

And if he gave a formal statement saying he hadn't loaned the car to anybody to reported it stolen ever, why did they take the truck if he wasn't a suspect or charged. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

EDIT: FOR THE LAST TIME, THE SUPERVISOR TOLD US THE PLATE AND DESCRIPTION MATCHED THE POLICE REPORT 100%. Hence, the question I have above. As far as I know, he hasn't moved.

Not mad, just making sure you guys understand that.

for the umteenth time, the truck was described as being involved, not him. get that thought out of your head, the question has been answered.

My two cents: Assuming the truck is registered to an address where your buddy resides, why didn't they come to the door and inquire about this back in 2012?

    File a complaint. Totally unnecessary.

I hope the asshole who reported his vehicle description gets what's coming to him.

Not saying your friend is guilty but people lie all the time. Just because he says it wasn't him doesn't mean that the police are going to say "ok, sorry" they will conduct a thorough investigation and determine the facts. It does take a bit of time to follow the "bread crumbs" to the facts.

    Understood.

But can ANYBODY give me a reason as to why they didn't investigate the 100% plate match at the time the crime was committed? Why wait until a black and white runs his plates?

Just because he said no one had it doesn't mean they 1) believed him or 2) it wasn't used in the crime.

They took it--most likely--to process for evidence related to the crime.

I'm sure the investigation has been ongoing. It was probably a partial plate match, which is why they never went to anyone's house. Honestly, who knows the answer to your first question. Could be a million different reasons. Even the LEOs involved in the stop couldn't answer that question. They just ran a plate, it popped up as matching, and they did what they are trained to do an acted on what information they have. Why it wasn't cleared up last year will never be known.

As to why he was let go but the truck was taken... its possible they had a good description, a name, or maybe even a CCTV image of the robber, and none of you matched that description. But that doesn't mean the truck wasn't used. If they have reasonable suspicion to believe the truck was used in the commission of a felony, they have every right to impound until further investigation.

i dont think it was a 100% plate match. when did the robbery happen, 2012 wasnt that logn ago when you talk about robbery investigations. are you sure it was a robbery and not a burglary? they are completely different.

I personally hate when they ride my ass, if your gonna pull me over do it dont ride behind me for 5 minutes thinking about it. Makes me nervous, i dont like thinking about 30 possible bullet holes in my truck while i wait for you to pull me over or speed by.

Thanks bud ^ I appreciate the concern. Don't worry, we'll have this whole thing figured out soon and whoever is at fault for this will surely be seeing me a lot more.
