So a big question seems to be "where should we go wheeling?" I like to compile stuff in one place so why not make a thread for it? I will update the OP as we get info in the thread so everything is easy to find. I will probably also eventually make a map of it in google maps and link it in here :D I have been all over the internet looking for trails in AK and am slowly starting to turn some stuff up.

disclaimer: use this info at your own risk! Do your own research and do not use this as your sole resource for planning your trip.

Soooo if you know of some sweet trails or places to wheel, post em up! Please put

    1) name
    2) nearest town/city/general area in AK
    3) Difficulty/what kinds of mods you recommend
    4) any access restrictions you know if
    5) notes on the trail
    6) any useful links you might know of

You can add the Eska Falls Road in Sutton. It looks like it's more of an ATV trail, but I've never been all the way up it so I don't really know. It is very narrow, so expect some pin striping. I went up it the summer I bought my truck and was getting dirty looks by guys going down in ATVs. Couldn't tell if they were mad that I was going up it, or surprised that a beat up Subaru was following me haha.

Here's a video of a guy riding is dirtbike up it. Looks amazing.

And some info on the trail.

Best Off Road Driving Trails in Alaska offers some of the most scenic and challenging off-road riding in the world. Whether you're looking for a leisurely trail ride or a more extreme backcountry adventure, there are plenty of options for off-road enthusiasts in Alaska. Here are some of the best places to ride off-road in Alaska:

    1. Denali National Park: Denali National Park offers a variety of off-road trails through its rugged and scenic terrain. The Denali Highway is a popular route for off-road riders, with stunning views of the Alaska Range and opportunities to see wildlife like grizzly bears and moose.

    2. Dalton Highway: The Dalton Highway runs from Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay, more than 400 miles into the Arctic Circle. This iconic road is one of the most challenging and remote routes in the world, with steep grades, sharp turns, and rugged terrain.

    3. Knik River Valley: The Knik River Valley is a favorite among off-road enthusiasts, with miles of trails through the scenic Mat-Su Valley. Riders can take in stunning views of glaciers, mountains, and wildlife like moose and eagles.

    4. Johnson Pass: Johnson Pass is a popular day trip for off-road riders, with a 32-mile trail that winds through the scenic Chugach Mountains. The trail offers moderate difficulty and stunning views of glaciers, forests, and mountain peaks.

    5. Turnagain Pass: Turnagain Pass offers some of the most challenging off-road riding in Alaska, with steep grades, rocky terrain, and stunning views of the Chugach Mountains. Riders can tackle the pass on ATV, UTV, or dirt bike, but should be prepared for challenging terrain and unpredictable weather.

Before heading out on any off-road adventure in Alaska, it's important to be prepared and know the local regulations and safety guidelines. Always ride with a partner, dress appropriately for the weather, and carry essential gear like a GPS, first aid kit, and emergency supplies.
