    Looks nice white lightning!!!

Hey Ben...That "semi hidden" version looks pretty sweet. Can you provide any details on what the difference is from the new "hidden" verson?
    Love this mod!!
    Thanks in advance!!

The new "hidden" version would conceal everything, including the motor, behind the stock storage cubby/panels.

The "semi-hidden" version that I did for white lightning is similar, but the motor is not concealed. Also the installation of the semi hidden version is not quite as straightforward as the full hidden. I'm currently working on releasing the semi-hidden version to the masses due to challenges in manufacturing the full hidden version. I need to figure out how to make the installation more user-friendly.

    Full hidden prototype:
    IMAG0838_3f3b9e2807bdfbf11a1b7ab0ddd8146bc3e84139.jpg

    Semi-hidden prototype:
    IMAG0160_02dbca6996981efd5464a3e9bb81894c066bd726.jpg

I would be curious to know how many people who have been holding out for the hidden version would be willing to settle for the semi-hidden version.

Arguably safer than stock. It is as safe against break-ins as any of the other power windows in your truck.

    I'd be down for a semi-hidden.

The full hidden prototype looks great!!
Thanks for the reply. I know you have been busy. I for one would love the new fully hidden version, however, not knowing the timeline on this, I would also be up for the semi hidden. My back seats are always up anyway.
Patiently on the fence but ready to pull the trigger :D

The semi hidden version is a lot closer to being available than the full hidden version. The semi-hidden version consists of parts that are currently available. It also works for access cabs.

The full hidden version consists of parts that need to be manufactured overseas in *very* large quantities, which is the primary cause of the hold up (and may ultimately end up being fatal for any eventual development of the hidden version).

I do feel very hopeful that the semi-hidden version can be released very soon, after a bit more testing. The concern is that there is a relatively high risk of damaging the unit if installed improperly. I'm working on ways to reduce that risk.

I prefer the completely hidden version but might settle for the semi hidden version if that's the only option available.

If I recall correctly, there was a difference in how much of the plastic needed to be trimmed between the original version and the hidden version. Is that right? If so, how much trimming is required for the original vs. semi hidden vs. fully hidden models?

    Double Cab:
Original: coping type trimming is required along the top edge of the passenger side storage cubby panel to accomodate the regulator track
Semi-hidden: option A) a slot needs to be cut into the storage cubby recess, just above where the motor mounts to allow the motor to pass thru the panel; option B) two 1/4" holes need to be drilled thru the cubby recess to allow passage of cables, however this option makes it impossible to fully remove the storage panel in the future without uninstalling the window mod
    Hidden: no trimming necessary

    Access Cab:
Original: not compatible with access cab
    Semi-hidden: no trimming necessary
    Hidden: no trimming necessary

    Thanks for the good words.

At this point, I'm beginning to have serious doubts that the hidden version will ever make it to market. The problem is, as mentioned previously, that they need to be manufactured from the ground up and the manufacturer requires a minimum order of units that is prohibitively huge -- i.e., an ENORMOUS outlay of cash on my part. Based on the relatively anemic interest, I doubt that I would be able to move that quantity of stock, or even move enough of them to break even. Sorry to say, but that's how things are looking at the moment.

In the meantime, I think the semi-hidden version will be a decent comprimise, and will suit Access Cabs especially well.

Well I guess this clears up the timeline a little for me. Ben, let me get some things together and then I will pm you with an order for semi-hidden model if they are ready. If not let me know how you want to do this. Thanks!!

Question...you said that the installation is a little different and not as user friendly as the first....are you going to update the pdf instructions for the new installation?

To clarify, the semi-hidden version is not available yet. I need to do a little more testing with regard to refining the installation procedure before I can start selling them to the public. My plan at this point is to have an installation video and detailed pdf instructions to ensure that it gets installed correctly by the buyer.

Definitely looks good. I can't wait until I can afford it again lol.

That is the same spot I was considering putting the switch once I do the install.

Use my truck as your install video model ;)

    Awsome post here BenWa,
    TY for this contribution

I don't know why these power options have not been standard yet, or atleast optional!!
I just purchased my first Tacoma (2013 DblCab) and would really like to have this feature. Do you have any of these kits available for my truck?
