This is dumb... But either of you have pictures of
    What you hacked off?
I was under the impression that dumping exhaust under the truck
Would cause resonace, maybe due to the angle the sound bounces down and does not come back up lnto the truck box.

But i still don't get Why the tail pipe section would cause resonace.
Maybe due to the length and bends of the pipe after the muffler..not really sure.

I remember the Aeroturbine company installation instructions said something about "one foot of strait pipe infront and in back of the muffler " would give you the best fuel economy and power.
Not sure about resonace problems, Just thought I'd throw that in there.

Just lookin' for some quick advice guys, I currently have a "Magnapack" muffler from magnaflow. I got it in search of the loudest muffler and without taking out my rear cats. Loud it is however I feel like I'm sacrificing some low end or at least moving it up in the rpm range. The magnapack is 12" in length and 4" round. Now the AT muffler is also pretty loud BUT do you guys think I will see an improvement in low end torque compared to the MF? Cause I think it will satisfy my need for sound even though I think my magnapack is louder...
I thank you in advance for your input!

I had my Aero installed today. Ya there is some resonance in the cab but that was to be expected. I'm going to mess with the end of the tail pipe, thinking of changing to different tip size.
Well I bought house so... whatever time I have to myself that is after the GF is satisfied, I'll be working on the taco.

It took long enough to even get the AT installed, this is what happens when you have GF and then it gets serious and it moves to fiance and next I'll be getting married..oh boy...
So my free time and money have gotten hog tied.
    But it's all good...:)

All of the exhaust and intake mods that you do to open it up will move your power band further into the RPM range... Mine is wide open and I have a serious need for some more low end power (S/C coming sooner than later hopefully). The more wide open the exhaust is, the better top end you will have at the cost of low end.

Since the magnapack is a packed and chambered muffler (essentially just a resonator), you will almost definitely lose power in the low end of the RPM band by moving to a straight-through design such as the Aero Turbine. My suggestions would be to look at maybe at Dynomax muffler (not personally a fan of the sound of this one) or maybe even the Wicked Flows by Bear River Converters. They might suit your fancy a bit better

Good info appreciate it! I do feel like the at muffler might have a little more resistance than my MP, being that the casing is bigger in diameter and the low pressure scavaging feature...

Sorry to pick at the info, the magnapack is a strait through muffler with large perforated stainless steel core.
They use a stainless steel mesh for sound control. A muffler with chambers like a Gibson or a Magna flow XL would be better for low end torque.
The engine needs something to reflect the pulse wave back at it to be able to tune its self. But once you have changed the dynamics of the exhaust system or have stepped up to a S/C or turbo the pulse of the engine changes and u no longer worry about the engine seeing the muffler.

There is a article in SuperChevy magazine about mufflers and how they react to the engine.

I was under the impression that the magnapack was chambered. My bad there. In that case the magnapack and the aero will function largely the same as one another in regards to exhaust scavenging. I really don't think you'll notice a difference if you switch

Yes, I really hate Blowmasters on Tacomas. <-----That is too funny, and I totally agree..

    http://www.summitracing.com/search/department/exhaust
Here at Summit Racing they give you more details about the mufflers and exhaust parts that they carry. FYI

I cut the bell end off of my tail pipe about 3 in from the beginning of the bell end.
I'm wondering if the bell or expanded end of the stock tail pipe was causing the resonance. That stainless tail pipe bell end would ring like a bell if you taped with something metal, even flicking it with your finger would make it ring.

I might just take you up on that, where you located? And how many miles on your AT? To answer your first question YES its freakin' loud! The only reason I'm inquiring on the AT muffler is due to the hype it seems like more and more guys on here on getting it. Whats your impression on it?
