Looks good! What sliders did you end up getting and how did you install them?

My birthday is coming up and the wife has agreed to let me get sliders. I'm just wondering which ones I should buy and how I'm going to get them put on (I don't weld).

I've been looking at the All-Pro Expos because they bolt-on and are still strong enough to handle a hi-lift jack, etc. However, they are super expensive $650 + $150 shipping. I'm looking for something cheaper and local. I've read about the Trail-Gear sliders but the brackets have weak gussets. Not sure what to do. I'd like to have them on before heading to Moab in June.

From what I read, you should get them welded on. I just got mine from trail ridge $400 fab, paint, and install. They can make what you want also.

That's pretty insane. I picked mine up at a local book store a few summers ago for the asking price on the back ($40).

Honestly, the book is ok, but really not fantastic. Its better for the moab trails, but even then, there are better moab books out there.

It really doesn't list any trails around Salt Lake. Closest is inspiration point and pony express. Then everything else is either up in bear lake, or Wendover, Price, or Vernal area.

Let me know an area you'd like to check out and I have pretty much every trail I could document (about 600 in utah). Granted, I haven't been on all of them, but still, its a starting point. Sadly, most will be closed until after Memorial day unless you head out towards the desert (or southern utah/moab).

Well welded on would be the best but you can always bolt them on and then weld them later. gussets or no gussets, if you really think your going to hit something that hard, its going to break your frame or the slider. your not trying try to hit it as many times as you can, a slider is more like... well a slider, to slide off rocks its not called a rock basher or else it would be called that :) slider protect and ya gussets are good, but you got to think of it this way, it doesn't matter how tough your slider is. if one day you do come down on something hard..... and i mean really hard your slider might live but your frame is going to wish you never put toughs on in the first place :( so i rather have a slider bend up or break then my frame.

But anyways, check KSL i saw a guy on there selling a pair of sliders, never installed i think they might fit your truck

I'm really not sure I'd go as far as to call those sliders. The way they sit, they look more like steps, hanging down with the flat step piece on it. Maybe if you had a 10" lift or something, they'd be ok, but they would just look silly on a minor lifted truck and you'd lose clearance.

Maybe they're upside down in the pic? But yeah, I don't think I'd run those.
