the sand is what did you in + the salt water. I have 130k and still have the stock wheel bearings. also Napa sells the axles for our trucks. and they also have a press did my friends a few months ago. if you just need axle boots check out partznet.com

    very nice
I decided to wait it out since mine are not that bad at the moment.
Timken says they will have their replacements in sept. Should be cheaper than the dealer .
I'll just save up and get new hubs n bearings and not hassle with it.
I was also considering new spindles around that time, but who knows.
    thanx for the pics

we just made the plate so that we could use the press (the yellow thing). we couldnt get the bearing/hub assembly to work with the press w/o that plate.

We called everywhere, and couldnt find anybody that sold the whole hub / bearing assembly. everyone sells them separate - even the dealer.

why would you wanna blow the money on whole new spindles? I mean if your not in a huge rush, just replace the bearings.

thanks for the pics man. we got my driverside spindle off, and i dont think the hub comes apart from the spindle on the first gens, so i decided to wait til later down the road to do my bearings. we took the seals off, and they bearings were still clean and smooth. i changed my cv's, and that got rid of alot of the vibes i was having.

Ha Ha, that big block of steel with 2 holes in it came off of a volkswagen, something to do with balance or anti vibration on the front end, I have 2 of them they hold my shop books up like bookends, they also work well when trying to shape metal as a backer for a hammer, nice job on the do it yourself work.

and take the easy way out? yeah right!

Really tho, i didnt even think about taking it to the dealer. I got the hookup on cost anyways so it wasnt a big deal.

Back to topic though, after all this work was completed - a problem arose:

My TC UCA's now rub on my coil's at full droop. Not even full droop, they even contact going over speed bumps. This wasn't the case prior to tearing down the front end.

Anybody know why this might be?
