as you said, they had to DIG the panama canal. They didnt dig out the entire river to idaho, they just threw up some dams to raise the water level

see, now you are just making shit up. nowhere in any geography text does it say that one boundary for the PNW are the cascades. The only mountainous feature that is actually mentioned as being a boundary is the Rockies. You cant just make up whatever you want to define the boundary and call that a solid argument.

no where in that article, or any article, does it state the cascades as any boundry for anything regarding the PNW, so you might as well drop that one.

No, because it's not even remotely close to the gulf. You are taking it out of context and stretching it. Minnesota might have ONE of the similar qualities to the gulf states but it is missing plenty to not be included. namely...location. See any maps that MIGHT include minnesota as a gulf state? Nope. See any maps that include Idaho as a PNW state? Ya, lets try about 90% of them. Hence the debate. Please take you irrelevant comparisons else where, as they are not helping your case

like i said, i just dont get it. it seems pretty clear cut. there might be a grey area. but it is certainly more than 50% in the PNW at least.
