why would that make the bearings go bad??? how is going down a trail bad on bearings?

 

In the video, it appears that Alex is running big wheel spacers. All the pressure of that kinda flex, with wheel spacers, can't possibly be good for wheel bearings.

I'm just assuming that's what he was talking about though.

 

he didn't have spacers on in that video. All that was done is the fender flares were taken off. Again, I don't see how, all that major flexing is going to damage them to the point of the driver side tire rubbing the UCA.

 

Alright, I could be wrong, just looks to be sticking out much further then stock. Was he running the spacers when he was running the 35's? I know with my 3.75 bs and 35's, I hit the frame when I turn.

 

Has anybody had a shop compress springs for them in and/or around Opelika/Auburn?

I'm getting some pretty BS prices for it. Ranging from $150 to $95. Lynch Toyota came in the cheapest @ $95. Before I spend that I'd risk using 2 damn kitchen forks and bottle jack to compress the damn thing.

Yea it's ridiculous. I found one place that will do it for 30, but they are closed on Saturday. One place that I found is open on Sat will do it for 60. I might have to bite the bullet.

 

That seems to be the going rate around us bud. That's why I ordered my ome kit assembled for $100 extra. I didn't have to deal with it and they became bolt on. It $150-175 in columbus for that.

 

Sounds like a plan for 60. Make sure they align the springs right when they do it and everything in the right direction.

 

I think it's my only option. My wife works all the way over there in your neck of the woods so I couldn't take her to work and use her car. Isn't there a thread that has pictures of the correct alignment of springs around here somewhere?

 

^^^ It's really not that bad to do yourself. I've done it on 3 Tacoma's now, and each one took me about an hour to do. I just rented a spring compressor from the local auto parts store.

 

I believe the ome thread had it in there.

 

I thought about that but the one I checked on to rent from Advance looked really sketchy. I can live with 60 bucks. I just hope they do it right and don't tear anything up.

Yea. The 34's were rubbing EVERYTHING! Lol.
EDIT: On another note. Anyone know where I can get a used spindle for a 2001 Tacoma that has everything I need.

I have 35's, and 3.75 back spacing. My Taco is Very happy, but my wheel bearing are not.
