    Hi guys,
looking to get a Tacoma and I have been calling around. I am going for the absolute base model. It has no options. There are several around here and the lowest after a ton of haggling was 19.5 out the door. What do you guys think? Is there any more room to get this down a bit? Any input appreciated.
    Thanks
    Austin

I would've liked a standard... always fun.... single cab... do you need any extra space? I at least needed a back seat for shit and friends (wouldve preferred a DBCSB)

how many miles? or is it brand spank'n new?

Dont need the extra space I dont think, I have had a couple of regular cab tacomas and they suited me just fine. It will be brand new, no miles. I am thinking the price is right, just need some other opinions

before i got the smoking deal on my tacoma, i actually was gonna get a 13 reg cab, 5spd, 4wd for 21. this was here in hawaii, so though that was a pretty good deal. then m eyes started wandering and i wanted to better. ended up going all the way up to the trd off road ac, 6spd, 4wd, tow package with 6 milez on the odo for 28. technically i paid more, but at the same time i got exactly what i always wanted. so with that being said, i think the numbers youre presented with is a good deal if its 4wd.

I was going with 2wd. I have noticed the 4wd trucks tend to hold their value much better. Do you think this is a worthwhile upgrade? I honestly have zero use for 4wd.

No point in buying it if there is no use for it, plus it's more money when maintenance comes around.

you should pay no more than 17,000 for the truck itself. what was the truck price, not out-the-door price

$17,821 for the truck. So you think I can get it down another 800 bucks? They seem to be totally stuck on price.

bill: if you have absolutely no use for and never forsee you utilizing it in the future, then dont look into it. cause like stated earlier, 4wd do have better resale value, but maintenance is more. initial purchase price is more, and by the sound of it, seems like you are trying to get the absolute best deal for your monies.if thats the case, stick with the 2wd, and try to see if you can haggle just a little bit more.

EDIT: what makes it easier too is, if you have your own financing in place, whether it be a loan or straight up cash vs them setting up the financing for you. if you have your own financing in place you see all the cards, there is no way for them to pull a quick one withthe numbers.

ok, gotcha, thanks for the feedback. Sounds like I am in the ballpark but there may be a little more room to haggle. I will let you know how it turns out.
    Thanks

I'd own this truck ^^^ (except automatic trans), for straight truck duty.

but only as a tool/2nd vehicle. not as my DD.

I haggled for 3 months on my Tacoma. However I wasn't in a rush to buy but wanted to know I was getting a deal.

No one wanted to let go the Tacoma in 2007 for cheap at all. My truck was priced at $28,200 and the best I could do at the time was $25,700.

I ended up getting my brand new 1 mile tacoma and I added another 2 miles on the test drive. Prerunner TRD Off-Road w/Factory Alarm, and some other add ons for $23,100. I also got the best APR offered at that time.

So if you can wait and look. You can score a deal.
