Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
People like that irritate me too, they are what I call the wanna be dog whisperers. Although I am all pro adoption, I don't go cramming it down other's throats on what they should get. I mainly encourage people to spay and neuter their pets, they just make better companions when they are fixed it seems like to me anyway.

The love of my life <3 He is an american pitbull terrier. Pure bred papered/whatever.
Ive had him his whole entire life, and was there when he was born. There was 9 puppies in his litter, some were red dogs, some were black and white. I didn't want a red dog at all but one night I was sitting on the couch and he sat right on top of my foot and pissed. It was like THAT was it!! :D I picked him up and said "thats it, You are mine now" and have not parted since :)
This is my forever dog. I see so many of my friends foolishly getting dogs then they get rid of them when it gets "too hard" it pisses me off so much. I will never get rid of this dog for ANY reason whatsoever.
I love defying everyone when they talk S#!t because of his breed. Hes changed so many peoples minds, and brought a new light to the haters.
Hes about 65 pounds, and just turned 3 this year.
I will never own any other breed of dog and I know that for certain.

This is Ammo, our other dog.
    DSC07255_126dc4ca43b7e89ed5a7a92a6a7c80e6532cc8f6.jpg
Hes not a pure bred dog, his mom was a pure bred APBT but the dad was a staffshire terrier. He was 110 pounds in his day. Now hes just an ole man. But still gigantic as ever. Hes the ultimate protector and hes pretty much scary as f*** despite how sweet he looks (to me). This dog is probably one of the smartest dogs I have ever encountered in my life. I swear he knows english or something.
Hes been a bad dog in his times...He got neutered at 7 years old (too late) and up until then he attacked mostly every male dog, and even got in it with Reds mom. Thats why his ear is torn and hes got a scar on his cheek that looks just like a Nike check sign.
I love him though. Hes a good boy now and Its a complete miracle that our two dogs can coexist in the same home and love eachother to death.

How's his ear now? Did you go back to the vet?

I had a GSD several years ago and she had ear infection after ear infection. She'd take antibiotics and it would go away, to come back. Eventually they had to knock her out to really clean her ear. Report came back there were two types of bacteria and the antibiotics worked well on the one type and only so so on the other... I told them to give me what worked well on BOTH types and they did and don't think she ever had another infection.

Just be sure to clean his ears on a regular basis to keep the gunk out.

Where you're at with regard to the infection needs treatment by a vet. Mostly for the reasons Susan cites.

Infections can be caused by yeast or bacteria. The vet should culture the ear and report back what type of infection then provide you with any one of a number of different meds to clear up the infection. A persistent infection can cause the ear canal to narrow resulting in a reduction of your pups ability to hear. Infection can also cause the dog to head shake a lot...that can lead to a ruptured ear drum. It can also lead to a hematoma.

A hematoma can best be compared to a piece of Pita Bread that separates during the baking process. In a hematoma, that gap fills with blood. Draining does not work well-you might have to have the ear drained several times as well. To fix the problem requires surgery.

Here's what a hematoma looks like:
This was taken about 3 days after Riley's was drained. I opted for surgery.
Riley's wasn't caused by an infection (however, he has one because of the bandaging required to protect the ear after surgery).

Anyway, the short answer is go back to the vet and have them culture the ear and get you the right medication before the infection turns into something else.

If you're considering an over the counter remedy, I've had great luck with Zymox Otic (with cortisone in it). It contains three different enzymes that work on bacterial or yeast infections. Right now, I am treating his left ear (good one) with Zymox and the right ear with a prescription med.

Most of what I've explained is stuff I have direct experience with. I work hard to keep Riley's ears clean and infection free because he is prone to infection.

    Good luck!

Also we can say goodbye to my phone charger and the power cord for my TV. Both chewed completely in two yesterday.

And yet I love that little dog!

I can't find the OP about the doggie with ear problems but just my two cents..
My dog had a really nasty ear infection for a bit, you can even tell in one of the pictures I posted of him on the page before this one..its all red.
It had lots of black wax and the pus coming out. :(

Some people might disagree, and that is okay..nothing helped BUT...I made a VERY diluted mixture of apple cider vinegar and water..I mean very very diluted so it wouldn't hurt badly or be too irritating. I did it twice a day for the first day, then once the next day, and one more time on the 3rd day. Not too much of the mixture, but after I put it in hed shake it all out for a long time. By day 3 it was nearly all the way cleaned up and it completely went away after that.
Of course, In the process I cleaned it out very carefully with Q tips.
Also, I believe it was especially beneficial to use "Braggs apple cider vinegar with "the mother" " Lol I know that sounds funny but its the real deal, unlike any normal acv you could buy at the store.

The vet receptionist ridiculed me for this..but Ummmm..none of the B.S. they tried to give me to get rid of it helped even one little bit.

I see no problem with this. I used to be a vet tech and the vet would prescribe stuff similar to this all the time. It works, and the vinegar is cheap and won't harm the dog. Good solution!

That open minded ness is awesome! For real.
I actually use ACV for myself and lots of things...even cleaning the house.

Also..if you have those stupid little fruit flies in your house you can put a cup of water, acv, and a few drops of dish soap and they will all get sucked into it because of the smell, and then the soap makes it to where if they touch the liquid they fall in and cant get out. Works like a charm!

It sounds weird but when I am sick, or when I remember in general I take a very small shot of it chased by water. It really helps digestion and if I am sick it makes it go away with the quickness.

Nothing wrong with that. Vinegar is good for all sorts of things... I was told acv and think alcohol for ear cleaning, but water would be gentler. Alcohol was to dry the ear and the vinegar to change the ph or something...

My dog, Waylon, recently experienced a a hematoma on his ear. The vet said it was commonly caused by flapping of the ears. Perhaps, as a result of flea bites. He required surgery to resolve the issue, but after a week or so he was back to normal.:) However, I still haven't recovered from the $400.00 vet bill.:(

Here he is with his best buddy Amadeus the bobcat.
