I've hunted Ocala for deer but never hunted Turkey on public land. I can ask some friends where to hunt Turkey around the gas line and let ya know what they say...

Depends on what part of the forest your going in, Umatilla has one small hotel called The Fox Den. There's several camp gorunds Alexander Springs, Lake Dorr and Big Scrub are all at the south and east side of the forest... Big Scrub has bathrooms i think but no water or power hookups.

I'm planning to try turkey hunting for the first time this year up in GA with my Dad. Going to be using my compound bow. Any tips for a beginner?

Tips: good calls, quality decoys, a concealed blind, and a lot of patience..
You have a better chance with a bow in my opinion but I can also hit a quarter at 75 yards
