So is rattlesnake a mild trail? Not wanting to get any trail dammage. I looked at some pics on the facebook group page kinda got me wondering....

You'll be fine man. It's more on the line you take and how you handle the throttle.

Rattle snake is good for stock. You don't have to worry. Who ever wants to go with them it's ok. I can't cause of my job. I work on Saturdays. So I'm still going on Sunday.

I wouldn't consider it a mild trail. With the bypasses (which you'll probably need to take them all), I would consider it a beginning rock crawler trail. If you dont take the bypasses, well, I've seen some places that a very built buggy and great driver couldn't get up.

My truck (35's, SAS, locked), can realistically only do about half of Rattlesnake. A bit more if I was willing to risk rolling and powering over/jumping everything I can't do correctly.

Few weekends ago, about 20 trucks went up and 7 had major breakages. two axles, one birf, one hub, one radiator, one 3 link, one tire, one roll over (but winched back up and continued). All this on Rattlesnake. No clue what happened to those that continued up to Constrictor.

But on the flip side, if you go with people that know the trail and understand capabilities of your truck, they can make it a very easy trail for you to do.

Personally, if you're unsure of yourself, you'll be better off taking the fire roads. They're still pretty fun and you really dont have to worry about damage unless you do something you shouldn't.

I would suggest something like this for a first time out:
    Code:
      [FONT=&quot]http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=40.263374~-112.210874&lvl=13&dir=0&sty=h&sp=Polyline.qq760h5nfz6d_qq7p535ng4dt_qq7z6z5ng67w_qq87dd5ngdgq_qq8czf5ngh5s_qq8mct5ngkfx_qq8wp25ngnn3_qq943c5ngs93_qq9j5q5nh0xt_qq9s195nh6p4_qq9x0p5nh7wc_qqb27p5nh89d_qqb5d95nh74n_qqb6nv5nh50y_qqbg7f5nh99v_qqbjck5nh9t9_qqbkfq5nh9qp_qqbk355nh8yv_qqbjkn5nh8pw_qqbjr35nh88y_qqbk9s5nh7zk_qqbm1x5nh7vk_qqbmws5nh7r8_qqbnqm5nh7mq_qqbptt5nh7nf_qqbr8y5nh7wn_qqbt2p5nh7y2_qqbvg45nh8cv_qqbw9h5nh92h_qqbx4w5nh9gf_qqc4c95nhcxb_qqc8x75nhdt4_qqcdc55nhdrr_qqcmyd5nhfn1_qqcqmg5nhgpk_qqcq8g5nhh90_qqcpk05nhhjn_qqcp5y5nhj2k_qqcp8n5nhk4d_qqcp0z5nhkmy_qqcpn55nhkp6_qqcp0p5nhmdv_qqcpqw5nhmts_qqcqc95nhmv9_qqcqs65nhmcr_qqcr5b5nhm2c_qqcrpb5nhm5m_qqcs805nhkwq_qqcsrr5nhkjs_qqct7k5nhk7r_qqct8d5nhjnf_qqcszm5nhj2d_qqcs6p5nhh98_qqc7nv5nhcmx_qqbx1n5nh6m7_qqbpw05nh1kn_qqbsys5ngxmv_qqbjf95ngrwx_qqbfnr5ng3by_qqb9hz5nfzh3_qqb8sy5nfsx3_qq9wk05nffk4_qq9pbk5nf66r_qq96645ndxf5_qq8zdq5ndr6q_Suggested%20Route____%2300ff00_%23000000_4px_Single_solid_qqcbn65nhdsd_~Point.qq75mn5nfz2t_Rattlesnake%20Parking____~Point.qq8hpt5nggcw_Rattlesnake%20Start____~Point.qqbjbg5nh8cx_Ant%20Hill.%20%202%20choices.%20%20Suggest%20outlined____~Point.qqbp655nh7r0_Watchout%20for%20hole%20and%20deep%20places____~Point.qqbs3y5nh80q_Few%20different%20paths%20up____~Point.qqcpt15nhmk0_Visit%20the%20Jeep%20Mine____~Point.qq8zbp5ndrh4_Exit____[/FONT]

Twiostaco you can do it. if you have 4X4 and a locker it will be a piece of cake, if you just have 4X4 it will still be fun, you just have go slow on some parts. last year tacolovr went with us and she was bone stock, no lift no armor. just stock Elocker and 4x4. she made it

I dont know. If you're with experienced people, I'm sure you'll be fine.

I just dont see Rattlesnake as a confidence building trail, so its really not something I like to use to introduce new people to offroad with. So much that can easily go wrong and can cause serious damage. Also, it really is too technical (ie. place your wheel exactly here) for new people to have fun.

(its like giving a 50 cal to someone thats never shot a gun before. Not something I'd recommend, unless I never wanted them to shoot again.)

A 50 cal aint so bad if you are given proper direction... ie hold it firmly against your shoulder and dont point it an anything you want to look the same after shooting... :p;)
    Greg, did I do rattlesnake?

You did, and we had a pretty rough time getting you through some of those rocks. I remember you hitting your leaf spring bracket pretty hard trying to get up one of the steps.

Oh ok, I remember that one! LOL good thing I had a few of you guys looking out for me.
That one did freak me out a bit and at that point we had already done a couple different trails. However, I never, (hardly ever) doubted your ability to get me though it.
The only real time I doubted you was when you had me on 3 wheels and let go of the bed of my truck... YES SIR, could have pee'd a little.

Oh, and this summer, I actually have plans for future trail runs for not-so lifted trucks for trails like this though.

Everyone knows building up with rocks is useless and just ruins trails (and people still try to do it....), but I never see anyone bring lumber (thinking a couple 2x12x4') or if those end up being too weak, waffle boards (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004WFX89Y/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A320BE2V1QR0G5).

Should end up solving most issues we had last year with people getting hung up on rocks too big for them.

Good times. :) We need more of those. (hint hint)

I think you'd be amazed what it really takes to flip the truck over, specially if you aren't bouncing. Definitely doesn't feel that way from inside though, as I still have major issues with off camber myself.

Greg: Just curious what area is specifically "Rattlesnake" because in my opinion the trail up to at least the "Jeep Mine" wasn't that bad (granted I've only been out there twice now, and last time I bent my driver's side spindle (being reckless) It's no "Mineral Basin" that's for sure! :)
