Do you care if they can show if he is Insane or if he can pass himself off as Insane?

If his lawyers or he is able to convience or show he is Insane and didn't know that killing people was wrong. Should he be put in a hospital and such...

Personally I find it hard to believe that a student of Neuroscience would be crazy enough to not know killing people is wrong and smart enough to do his school work.

I don't think intelligence and whether someone is crazy or not has anything to do with each other. I hope they don't find him insane so he actually stands trial however I fully think someone has the ability to be extremely intelligent and crazy at the same time.

x2, and I don't believe we should have to support him for the rest of his miserable existance. I vote death penalty for the horrible things he's done and the lives he's ruined.

I honestly never understood the insanity plea. I really don't care if your crazy and don't know right from wrong. If you murder someone, for no good reason, than you yourself should be put to death. IMO

he has to be somewhat crazy/insane to do what he did. I don't think that should keep him from going to trial like anyone else and facing the punishment for the crime.

everyone knows it's wrong to kill. Everyone knows pain isn't a good thing. IMO they should make an example out of him so the next detached emo girlyboy with a couple troubles won't think it's such a good idea to kill like that. Coddling idiots like this is the problem. They need help to get their minds right at the first warning signs.

Agreed. I've met plenty of crazy people in my lifetime, and none of them have shot up a theater of innocent people. Crazy or not, it is absolutley no reason to kill.

    I vote kill em off!

The hurdle in a courtroom is legal insanity (so crazy he can't distinguish right from wrong), not just being crazy. This guy (who can function elsewhere in society) is obviously not crazy enough to meet the definition of legal insanity.

Holmes richly and promptly deserves the death penalty. Sadly, he'll instead spend the next fifteen-twenty years sitting around watching television and eating three meals a day, at taxpayer's expense.

If he's too crazy to know, and it makes us feel better, why not just put him out of his misery?

I tend to be soft here whereas in other areas of my life I'm a jerk.

Until our society figures out how to diagnose and treat true mental health issues, I say throw him in prison to rot for life. No chance of parole. I have a very high understanding of mental health issues and I know that some people are not aware of their actions all the time. Until you have experienced this first hand, or seen a very close loved one experience it ... I'm sorry but you can't judge or comprehend. They should not be allowed to mix in with society ... but what's the answer?

btw, figure this out ... and you also solve most of our "gun" issues.

If you take a life, yours should be taken as well. It doesn't have to be brutal (hanging, bullet to the head, etc.) but it should be done. People need a better reason to not kill.

Like I said, bullet to the head is pretty cheap last time I checked.
