Can talk about it Friday night with Silas but here's my recommendation after install:

    1. Drive around the neighborhood for a good bit with the diff open.

    2. Park it for a bit to let the bubbles settle.

    3. Drive down a straight road in the neighborhood and turn on the locker. Turn it off before making any turns.

    4. Park it for a bit and let the bubbles settle.

    5. Take it out on to one of the N-S or E-W arteries. Engage the locker when you know you got straight-away for a good bit. Make sure it is disengaged prior to any turns.

    6. Park it somewhere and let it settle

    7. Run out the 500 miles as an open diff.

Had a doctor's appt on the other side of town this morning so I came into work via the interstate. Had a guy follow me off and asked me at the first red light where I got my rear bumper from. The guy was driving a white 1st Gen TRD DC w/ an ARB front bumper, a bed cap and looked to be 265/75s. Made my day.

One wonders why, after all those freakin' years, they didn't come up with a name for the stupid horsie.

Also, you guys aren't old enough to remember America, I'd have thought; I'm impressed.

Just got done meeting with Cloudy to plan out a 1st Gen HiLift mount. We put together a really simple solution that still allows for pretty close to full use of the bed if needed. He's oing to fab up the foot bracket this weekend. I'm going bolt shopping Friday or Saturday night. Hoping to post pictures soon.

Not lock it, just drive with it open for 15-20 min, then let it cool for about 30 min. Then yeah, no off-roading or hard acceleration for 500 miles, then change the oil... It kinda sucks.... it was sooo hard to resist flooring it after I regeared. lol :D but it can ruin the gears if not broken in properly.
Sounds good except for the locker part.... I really don't like the idea of locking it on the street AT ALL. That's how stuff breaks... We can find a dirt lot to test it.... Hopefully we have enough time to install the compressor. I know we can get the gears set in and the airline run easy enough, but I'm crap with electrical stuff (switchs n fuses n relays n wires n stuff) :( Also, my dad said we have to finish up by 10........ :anonymous: Maybe I can get the third member and air line ran and you and kyle (maybe Kenny) can wire up the switches up for the compressr. :notsure: I bet we could get it done in time... ARB does a good job with setting up all the wiring, and gave clear instructions, you just have to know where it all goes. (pigger was a GREAT help to me when we installed my compressor.)

Fair enough. I was really just after ensuring the locker can lock up correctly. So dirt lot would work just fine. However, you bring up a good point. I'm seconding focusing on getting the mechanical done tomorrow night.

Kyle, you'll be able to drive around and start breaking in the gears without wiring up the compressor. It'll just be an open diff. Can come up with some plans to get it finished once we make sure the 3rd is in and the air lines run.
