I've searched and search on this site, using Google, using Bing, etc. and cannot get a definitive difference between the these packages.

I've got a 2012 used Tacoma in my sights at a decent price (I think) but the Sports package is listed as "Sports Extra Value Package".

What are the differences here that I should be looking at? Is there somewhere that I can compare the distinctive differences of items in each package?

Can anyone help? I've found what I'm looking for, price is lower than expected....but that's what is setting off an alarm in my head. The price is lower by about $2000 than any other Tacoma TRD Sport Package with comparable options added; that I'm worried the "Sports Extra value package" is leaving some major piece off the table.

    Thanks in advance!

Can you get a copy of the window sticker? I think mine was a extra value package. Although that's apples and oranges since I got mine in 2009. Only things mine was lacking was JBL stereo and DRL's I think. Back when I got mine I think just DRLs constituted a different version of the package. I'd imagine any main differences would revolve around audio system options. You're still going to have all your main sport options such as color keyed bumpers, scoop, sport seats, back up camera, etc etc.

For 2013, the difference in those two packages was Entune with navigation. Not sure if that also meant speakers too? I believe that the entune setup only used a sharkfin antenna while the standard touchscreen used the regular antenna.

The 2012 hat I'm looking at has the shark fin, sitting above the double cab (near the rear). I don't have the sticker sheet available to tell me what items are in the package.

I'll see if the dealership can do a reprint of it seeing that they originallly sold the truck new and are now reselling it.

Does Entune/Navigation automatically include the JBL speaker upgrade? Audio isn't a deal breaker to me. I can easily upgrade components on my own with exactly what I want.

BTW, 'standard touchscreen'. There's an option for touchscreen display without navigation (or that's not Entune)?

....just don't understand Toyota Truck's 'infinity-combination capable' options lists. Really like Lexus and Honda's take on limited options; take is with basic, option package 1, option package 2, or fully loaded. Don't really like this 'order your car like a GM product from 1982' apporach.

That's the package!!! Thank you twice, once for finding this for me the other for referring me to tacomohq. I've been lurking on this site for about a month now and haven't seen that website pop up once.

One option on the "Sport Upgrade" was the audio system, could move up to the Entune pkg with nav and integrated backup camera (screen in the dash) and sub woof behind back seat. One missing element on this package was the rear diff lock.

I have this pkg on mine, love it, because it has all the '13 Limited stuff with less chrome. Wheels are an easy change if you prefer others. The '13 leather isn't that nice, and I can add seat heaters to my existing seats for $200 locally.

The upgrade on the suspension is significant, especially when comparing loads. With an empty bed you can feel the stiffness over bumps, but put 300-400 lbs in the bed and the ride is incredible over any terrain on just stock wheels and suspension.

Newbie here. I've been looking through the threads as well as google and haven't been able to find if there is a Sport option as well as a TRD Sport option. I'm asking because I just bought an 07 Tacoma, that I assumed was TRD Sport since it has the hood scoop, Power outlet in the trunk, and tow package. But then later I noticed in Kelly Blue Book there were two listings, one for sport and one for TRD Sport. Since it came without TRD Decals, but with an SR5 emblem I wanted to know the specifics. Is that unheard of SR5 and TRD Sport options on the same model? Thanks.

Starting with the 2011 models Toyota stopped putting SR5 badges on TRD models even if it included the SR5 trim.

Do you have power windows/locks, cruise control, etc? Everything else sounds like a TRD Sport so maybe it was just de-badged of the decal.

Only difference in the ride of your truck vs any other Sport is the rim and tire combo. 18's have shorter sidewalls and provide a "sportier" ride on road, while the smaller rims and taller sidewalls will perform better off road.

TRD SPORT Suspension on the Tacoma isn't anything more than Bilstein Shock Absorbers...the same for all TRD's...You can tell because they're blue (SPORTY color!!!)

I believe all TRD's are upgraded SR5's. I.E. They all have keyless entry, fogs, etc...and TRD gives you upgraded seats, color matching or diff-lock/ATRAC, Bed outlet, and better shocks.

mine does have cruise control and steering wheel audio controls. The power locks aren't working for some reason and neither are the manual locks on the outside door. I didn't see the diff-lock/ATRAC, but where the Diff lock button should be is an alarm light that seems to be deactivated. Lastly, the shocks are definitely a sporty blue. LOL
    Thanks guys

You would only see the diff lock/ATRAC on a TRD Off Road model.
