Yeah, this thread kinda died off. I'll revive it in a week and a half. Spring break starts tomorrow, desert bound Friday morning! :D

That's because it's spring and everyone's crawled out of their cave and left on an expedition!

slick mud in anything but MTs isn't the best idea. Only place I've personally ever been stuck with ATs wasn't the technical anything, but deep, wet, nasty mud.

This is literally 200 yards away from the cabin on the second, warmer day. We turned around and looked for other entertainments, knowing that I would be just pulling him out repeatedly.

Well the Expedition part is driving there. Going to be in Phoenix for the first part of the week, headed to Sedona around Weds. I think. I've got 2 days for offroading, Looking to hit Schnebly hill, soldier's pass, broken arrow, and anything else is open to suggestions. Greasy spoon or dead cow gulch on the way to Sedona both looked pretty interesting. And if anybody wants to join I'll try to post up a meeting time and place or something when it get's closer and I'm more solid on the plan.

So, it wasn't much of an expedition but it was also the first time I'd taken this truck off-road.

Basically, an overnighter to the BLM land between Joshua Tree and the Salton Sea just east of Indio.

The drive went very smoothly. Turned on the LSD and drove with my phone doing nav duty (wife wasn't excited about the BYOT, bring your own toilet, aspect of the trip.
I was prepared to air down my tires but never hit anything that required it. There were a couple of areas with some deep sand but I held a pretty clean line, went easy on the gas and rolled pretty much right through.

Great group of people from over on ExPo with some very intense rigs (the best of the Tacos, Tacodoc's and RLBarlow's, are already featured in builds on this site.
Only thing left from the original of this '51 Chevy truck is the sheet metal and the frame.

This Taco had some serious nylon deployed.

Got me fired up enough I asked my wife to get me a copy of Backcountry Adventures: Southern California for my birthday. :burnrubber:

    Great first voyage.
Did you see any quail on your journey? I'm always trying to keep up with jeers they're hiding in that area.

Looks like a good 1st trip.
Airing down also increases ride comfort.
A lot of times I don't need the extra traction, but the ride is so much smoother aired down.
