Sliders came. A lot heavier than i expected. Now, opinions ? silver to match paint or black to match trim. Planned on going black but I held one in place and the raw steel is grey/silver and thought it looked pretty mean. opinions ?

I know everyone does them in black, but I still like that look. My vote is black

Haha yes i do need to change the strings, amazingly it was still perfectly in tune and i haven't touched it in over 2 months. Thats a very nice guild you have there they make some great guitars. I inherited an old guild from my stepmother, i think it was made in the late 60s and i love that guitar. it has a very unique sound. Its a semi-hollow body with one pickup, and the tube amp that was bought with it still works. You cant get that sound out of anything that is made today.

Thanks. The reason I decided on the LT was everything I read about modding the IFS Tacomas for offroad said you get the best bang for the buck with long travel and 35 inch tires (hell even 33s) versus the drop bracket type lifts that permanently scar your rig. I would consider SAS if my truck was like 10 years old instead of 2 because I understand those yield healthy clearance numbers too. I gues in my mind I want the capability after one round of major modding instead of doing on thing and wanting more. Are LT trucks uncommon to see offroad here in New England? Oh yea one of the other reasons was I may consider getting into some serious rock crawling and figured this type of setup would be good for that.
On a side note has anyone tied their rear frame with a shackle mount cross memeber like defined engineering makes? Just curious about how well it stabilizes the rear.

With LT, keep in mind you will likely need new fenders to clear tires of that size with that amount of travel.

Not many people with LT trucks here. Typically people use LT for high speed desert driving.

The shackle mount cross member is probably meant to stiffen the rear end ya? I would think this would actually be bad for rock crawling because it will act like a sway bar and limit rear suspension acticulation. Someone correct me if i am wrong

No, the cross member bolts to where the hanger attaches to the frame and braces it against the frame, similar to the X-brace on the X-runner. It does not limit travel, it just stiffens the rear section of the frame.

Interesting. I was thinking of it more like a sway bar. Learn something new everyday here. But still wouldnt this more be benificial to high speed offroading vs. slow rock crawling?

I'm not 100% sure what the benefit of something like that is. I know it stiffens the rear but I know that some things are meant to flex and stiffening them can actually lead them to break instead of flex, like they should. Honestly, the one thing I wish I could add to my truck is the Budbuilt traction bar to eliminate axle wrap.

I was picturing something different, i thought it attatched to the other bolt in the shackles, the one that actually moves when the springs flex. It looks like it bolts onto the fixed bolt. So really it is just stiffening the shackle buckets

I see what your saying about doing one thing and wanting more...its a disease haha. Keep in mind the LT guys are constantly dumping money into those trucks. You could probably drop $20,000 in mods going long travel if you wanted to. Im sure guys one this site have done that if not more. I still say midtravel is the way to go, sounds like you want a real high quality setup which you can easily do with midtravel without completely altering the suspension. Plus you keep saying the best bang for your buck. But after a LT kit and all the components that go with it plus fiberglass fenders you will probably spend twice as much on LT vs MT. And wheeling around here MT will probably handle everything LT would.
