Yes I will, just been in a time crunch to get things done. Also the plumber doesn't have everything done so I can't go any higher yet. It will go all the way to the ceiling. Not a steam shower so we aren't doing the ceiling. We want a leak test before the drywall goes in which is next week. We got this far and will finish it up when I have time.

OK...here goes: Most likely the hard drive has died. However, I would make sure the BIOS was reset to "Load Default settings" and then see if the drive is recognized in the bios. If it is not recognized in bios it cannot boot to it.

If the drive is still not detected in BIOS it is most likely bad and the data un-recoverable by normal means. It is possible that the mainboard or controller is bad but those are much less likley to happen.

That should be a SATA drive so it can be hooked up to a desktop system using internal cables easy enough to confirm it's death or retrieve the data if it still lives. Just slave it in as a secondary drive. Or you can pick up a USB ext HDD case for about $30-$35.

If Mark made recovery disks when the system was new, it can be easy to put in a new drive (if that is the issue) and reload the system like new with a total cost of about $100. If not, you can order recovery media from the manufacturer for about 30 bucks.

:stirthepot:And just for the sake of argument...a dead drive in a MAC is EXACTLY as dead as a dead drive in a PC. They are the same type of drive and usually the same brands are used in both.:crapstorm:

While a virus can cause the system not to boot it will not cause the drive to not be detected in BIOS so given what little I know...virus is unlikely the cause.

Does anyone believe in over engineering. I know in my old house, the bathroom was 40 years old and nothing ever leaked, just saying. Not that new tech is wrong, or bad,

They say never quit quitting. Here goes quitting attempt #7. But this time, I went out and bought one of those fake cigarettes. It's water vapor and the liquid in it's got the nicotine and menthol. Step one in quitting so I'm good by the time boot camp comes around- if, indeed, I am accepted into service.

Doing the ceiling is not a bad thing , just not really needed as the waterproofing is needed on the walls and floor and no bulk water is going to loiter on the ceiling tile and certainly not force it's way uphill through the tile

    The Schluter system is great
