Previous owner used to haul heavy loads, so he put an AAL on it and TRD front suspension with a lift and custom rear suspension for added weight capacity. I recently installed a tow package (Curt with lifetime warranty) So i will definitely see what this thing can handle as far as weight goes.

Is this going to eventually spread? Is it normal? The truck only has 74,000 miles on it and is an 06 prerunner. Should i cover it with some kind of protectant/paint?

Looks normal and mild to me. You can sand, prep, and paint it if you want it to look better but it's not hurting anything.

That is VERY little surface rust for an 06. Just check to make sure there isn't any rot anywhere. Doesn't look like you have any issues at all.

Thanks! I'm in southern cali so the truck luckily hasn't been salted. But it is not garaged (i'd love to garage it) So it definitely gets to meet the elements.

    Rock chips or rust?

In edmonton its all about the rock chips from the gravel, no salt here!

I got my truck undercoated none the less.

    Haha. What rust?

    <----- From the Northeast.

That thing is mint. Don't worry about it. :) If a truck that clean rolled into my shop I would probably give a discount because it would take me half the time to do the work. Don't bother with covering or painting. The wear is from the leaf springs flexing. As soon as you hit a decent bump or load the bed you will wear off anything you apply to it.

Why yes! Yes I am. :D Still better than the 14.7 MPG that I got with my 2011 F150 with the 5 liter V8. Loved that power!

Wells its nice to hear the word "mint" said about my truck, Being as "clean" as you guys are saying for being as old as it is, (6yrs) does that preserve the value of the truck? I change the oil every 3,000 miles and only use high quality synthetics.

You own a shop? How much should it cost me to remove an add a leaf on this thing? The rise is super super stiff and frankly its annoying. I cant enter a parking lot ramp sometimes without almost going airborne in my seat.

Unless I'm missing something, it looks like it's only on the leaf spring with is 100% normal and nothing to worry about. Only thing that will do is give you squeaking.

Consider yourself lucky OP. Some people have loads of rust only after a couple of years. You got nothing to worry about.
