Icon 2.5 C/Os + King 14x700 Springs

How long are the stock coils? Are they 13" long? I was thinking to changing mine to the same 650lb but with a longer coil, like a 14" to give a better ride at 2.5" of lift.

And who is rebuilding them for you guys? Ay least the ones that need rebuilding, DSM? Mine need a rebuild and I'm thinking I might change the springs out at the same time.

 

Me ... To cheap to pay $100 shipping and $225 rebuild .
Rebuild kits from icon is $36 each shock if you want there oil it's $35 for enough oil for 2 .

 

Sorry if this was already covered but how hard is it to rebuild and how long did it take? I have the extended travel remote resi version and they are leaking from the bottom of the resi. Does the rebuild kit that you got include the new seals and what not for that side too? or was that a separate kit? And who did the nitrogen recharge?? Sorry about all the questions but if i could save the money and do it myself that would be ideal.

I don't have remote resi . Contact brad at icon for your rebuild kit . Price might be alittle different then what I posted . He will answer any questions you have . I have a friend with a nitrogen bottle .

I have the icon 2.5 remote resi's about 6 months. I added CBI rear HC plate with tire carrier. About a month ago I started noticing front driver side drooping lower than front right. I know, my 210 lbs, battery and gas are all driver side but it was a 3/4 inch diff. Well I just added a pelfreybilt front plate bumper, TJM 9000lb winch 20" rigid led and man, my truck is all caddy whompus. Front left is low point and right rear is high point. I am going down road crooked as Hell. It also seems when turning right the left roll is more mushy and pronounced th n turning left right roll. It is like that front left spring is just done. No additional preload has been done since install.

I also added weld on pelfrey sliders and 5 piece bud built aluminum skids.

700# 14 ". ?

Any thoughts?

 

so i got a set of donahoe 2.5 coilovers off of craiglist for really good price. i was going to have them rebuilt and i wanted to change to the 14.0 in. Length, 650 lbs./in.Spring Rate. i was looking to get the Eibach if the Inside Diameter is 2.5 inches. i should get good right? here is the link. if anyone wants to help me. thank you.

So, I have always had the preload adjuster with more preload on the driver's side than the passenger side b/c of this "taco lean" problem--truck leans to the driver's side b/c of the weight of gas tank/battery/etc on the driver's side. If you have never adjusted the preload on your adjustable coilovers, I would try that first. How much preload (in inches) do you have on each side now, and how much more do you have to play with? In other words, how many inches of thread are left underneath the adjuster nut on each side?

If you run out of adjustment b/c of weight -- in other words, you can't thread the adjuster nut any lower b/c you're running out of threads to get the lift height you want b/c of the additional weight of bumper/winch/etc. -- then it is time to replace the original 13" long, 650 lbs/in, 3" internal diameter spring that came with your Icons with a spring that is either longer or heavier spring rate or both.

 

The springs in this link with fit on your donahoe coilovers assuming the one's you bought have a 2.5" external diameter shock body -- they will fit with a 3" internal diameter spring that you linked to. The original springs from Donahoe were 13" long and 650 lbs/in spring rate. So, you will have to compress these more during the installation to the shock--which is like having an inch of preload on the preload adjuster before you ever start adjusting the adjuster nut down at all. This is a potential good setup if you have additional weight in the front of your truck -- most common things are plate steel aftermarket bumper, winch, and skid plates. If you have stock front bumper, no winch, no skid plates, then this spring on your shock will be too stiff likely.

are the 5-8735's the 2.5" ers? I couldn't find info on them specifically from ICON's site.
