Mud Flaps

I measured approx 2 1/8 inch from the flap to the hole.

 

My front ones have about an inch on the side I need to take up so that will work perfect..either that or I try to cut it, but this sounds like an easy way to go.

 

And good on the foam backer..I'll be doing that as well or maybe some caulk depending how tight I can get the flaps

 

Put them on today. 4mm thick but flexible. Can't roll them into a tube, but flexible. Each mounts where the three hexhead screws are, no other mounting points. Uses the existing plastic anchors, has plastic spacers in the kit.

Here's a pic of the front after going through a little mud. The fronts are about 3" shorter than the OEM, but did keep the mud off the rocker panels (wasn't a lot of mud though). They won't keep as much off as the OEM's, of course being shorter.

They're about 2" wider than the OEM's, cover outside the flares better.

I trimmed the front flaps after having the truck for over a year. I'm s glad I did. I'm not hearing that annoying scrapping sound over speed bumps and uneven roadways.

I wish I would have done it sooner.

 

Installed Proven Design Classic Mudflaps. Called and they said they would customize for $10-15. I wanted to keep close to OEM look, so I got 4x4 Grey. They stick out approx 1/4 inch further than OEM. The best part; no rubbing forward or reverse in full lock.

Those look GREAT -- especially with the MGM truck!! I would love to do that - couple of questions 1) which model are they? 2) how much hassle is it to replace them? 3) did you replace all four mudflaps??

1 - Proven Design. I listed the link.
2 - It wasn't too much trouble once I realized what to do. You will have to remove the rear tires; the front can just be turned.
3 - All four. Kept plain black on the front to maintain a standard look.

 

Will they make them wider ?

Never ask about width. I can move approx another 1/4 inch in the back and 1/2 inch in the front before starting to get too close to the edge in case it rubs something.

They were expensive, but close to the stock look I wanted.

 

Or as I see it, the cheaper way (for me, Plasticolor 11-19's) was $60 for 4 and they do the job just fine. I don't take my truck off road so I don't need something indestructible necessarily. Plus I liked the Yosemite Sam ones. Good enough by me.

 

Or if you want to pay more money for a "name" (if that's how it is, I haven't looked). The molded ones for my Chevy were about $100 or so all 4 and they were fine, but knowing what I know now not going that route.

 

My front ones drag on almost every bump how do they look cut off some?

 

Removed my front flaps, but am thinking about trimming them up higher and putting them back on.

 

I'm gonna put me some LED lights on them. Not sure yet what the message will be. Any suggestions?

 

Sweet thats my truck! I was just about to chime in! I lopped them of because I simply thought they looked silly and was scrubbing them on speed bumps. I left the rears alone. Since adding the BFG's I do notice some rock and pebble damage to the stick on proctertors on the rear fenders.
