Maybe it's just the clear coat? Try and wet-sand down the clear coat a little bit with really fine wet-sandpaper and then go even finer. Then polish it.

I can't remember clearly, probably not a full two cans of color, maybe 1 and a half. But I did use a crap ton of clear.

The more clear the better, it'll protect the actual color.

I really have to get off my ass and paint my grill. Every time I see this thread I say that. Saw a black 2012 with a black grill at the dealer and it looked amazing. Need to get off my ass...

Yea it's time to get off your ass. Just did mines and it looks great. After paint and clear coat cures after a week sand with 2000 grit and compound and paint seal. Compound is key.

I did a wet sand 2000 grit. It will look dull at first. Use Meguiars Ultimate Compound. And I got the paint sealant from a Toyota dealer that my brother works at. The sealant is optional or you can just use any car wax will be fine. Keep in mind you have to let the paint cure for a week before you start this process.

I did this project this weekend and I'm no painter by any stretch. The color came out pretty well but even after 2 cans of clear coat it doesn't have the glossy glass like finish I hoped for. Any thoughts?
