    Yea that ^

My plans are to have an internal steel frame built that will go inside the canopy so I can throw a front runner roof rack above it. Or maybe go back to a camper shell.

Check out Alex's truck. Couple posts on this page in his thread show what he did with regards to a frame around his canopy. His is external, though.

I am looking to ditch the entire aluminum folding frame and make an internal steel frame. It's nice to be able to fold the top down but I want something that can hold some weight but also able to roll up the side when I want.

Couldnt you just build an external steel frame or are you wanting to do the whole internal thing?

All internal. It will look like a regular softtopper from the outside but the inside will be a rigid steel frame that will not collapse. It will however be able to have weight on it.

On top of it I plan on mounting a front runner roof rack. Up there will be my Pelican cases because they take up way too much room in the bed.

I will also have the ability to roll up the windows like it is in some of the pictures.

Or I may just ditch the whole idea together and go back to a camp shell that has windoors.

I like the idea of the hard softtopper. I think its funny that you've had a shell then sold it, then bought another, then sold it, now a soft topper and maybe sell it lol

    Not much.

like a bed rack to keep things dry in the bed and a tent or whatever mounted above.
