The Honda ridge line is a wannabe truck, the only thing it has going for it is a Honda pilot with a portion of the back cut off

Which to me is meaningless, since I plan to drive mine till it's junk. That said it can work both ways. I said the same about my Chevy till the engine puked, shortly after which I turned it in for the Tacoma.

Even when its junk it'll sell overnight. My buddy had 240k on his.. dented-in door from crash and a shit ton or rust when he put it on craigs list. He got 14 calls the first day and sold it that weekend for $2,800

Very true..or in my wife's case with her old 96, she got in the buyback in 2008 and got about what she paid for it 7 yrs prior. Add to that the fact that the only non-maintainence item it needed was the AC repaired for $800 and that's a pretty killer deal. Granted it was going to need a clutch soon but I was fully prepared to fix it and keep it for her.

Just for grins I checked the trade-in value for my truck last week - $22k. I didn't click retail but figure $24-sih for retail. At $22k and 4 years old, my truck has only lost 27% of the original cost - even with the dumb recall to shave the gas pedal and update the engine computer.

Every other new vehicle I ever owned lost at least 50% value over 4 years.

F*ck CR. They never like the vehicles I like. I did buy one of their recommended cars - 2000 Ford Focus (their small car of the year for 2000) when it came out. It ended up with 13 recalls, struck throttle, replaced the ignition cylinder twice, replaced front broken springs (factory defect for every one made that model year), 2 window regulators, various switches, and other issues all before it was 4 years old.

I bought the TYC-branded blower. You can find it for cheap on Rock Auto and Logical-Source.

I've had good luck with the TYC blower, but not everyone has, based on a few reports on TW. Since Toyota finally came up with a P/N that doesn't chirp (took them 2-3 successive P/Ns to get it right), if I had to buy the blower today, I'd buy the Toyota one.

I'll jump on the Taco bandwagon as well! :D

Not only do these badass trucks have a resale value that holds like steel and you can sell it for basically the MSRP you bought it for 3 years later (lol) but you can also do some gnarly offroading with this thing even in the less then fully loaded Sport package instead of the Off-road package that other trucks will end up falling on their face on.

Coming out of more then a handful of other different vehicles from sporty to more luxurious and having driven more then my share of them, I am beyond pleased with the on and off road driving characteristics of the Tacoma and is well past livable on a day in and day out basis.

I remember a guy went on a test drive and was comparing the Taco to the Ridgeline because he was looking to replace his 97 or 98 Tundra which he used to haul stuff on some seriously steep inclines at his ranch or something. One of his complaints about the Taco was that the rear end was squirrely.. seriously? If you want a comfortable ride go buy a Lexus or Acura.. Needless to say, the pansy ended up getting a Ridgeline. He's probably getting stuck right now as we speak.

Maybe it's the weak leaf springs and driveline vibrations that are bring the rating down

Is going offroad a prerequisite for owning a Tacoma ?

Easy there tigers, there plenty of people on this forum who are the same way.
Love how that guys explains fake beadlocks, and AWD turn knob. Surprisingly he did not mention ultimate mall crawl item... the famous ATRAC.

I'm certainly not the "know all king" when it comes to trucks, offloading or any mechanical chat, but I would also never make a video pretending I know that stuff...

Maybe could not pull Honda Ridgeline over the curb at that mall to get on top of that hill.

Doesn't the Ridgeline not even have a 4Lo range? Isn't it full-time AWD? It's basically a crossover SUV with a bed. Which is probably adequate for 90% of midsize truck users. I doubt highly that the overwhelming majority of Tacoma owners take their trucks off road and use them for real work regularly. Let's face it -- we here at TW are a small minority.

Let's face it, few here that own TRD Offroads take them off road.
