    Glad to see the government knows it is important to harvest it while you can. We got southern pine beetle down here and it does no where near that kind of damage. I can only imagine the crown fire that is going to destroy those woods. Burning is good for a forest but not the intense crown fires that are going to happen there.

    Holy shit...knew it was bad, but didn't realize it was THAT bad. My folks live in the Okanagan and it always broke my heart to see how much devastation there was the further I got into BC. Then a few years ago I drove to the coast for the first time during the summer and it broke my damn heart to see the forests around Merritt...damn near everything has been attacked by those little buggers. :(

    On another note, whereabouts in BC do you live, OZ? My wife and I want to move out to the island ASAP. My brother lives there now (in Nanoose Bay) and he's rockin' a wood stove. He told me that in the winter he pays a grand total of $59 in utilities...the bastard!
