Bed rust from bed liner?

Hi,

I just got the 09 Taco. A friend of mine just sold his Taco said to remove the stock plastic bed-liner as it will rub the paint off the bed and then it will rust. Said his was starting to rust but caught it in time and had linex or rhinolining installed (forget whichone).

Then the 1st thing he did when he bought his 13 Tundra, is drive it straight to the shop to have it linexed or rhinolined.

Is he full of shit or do I need to remove the bed-liner and have the bed treated?

05-13 Tacoma's have full composite plastic beds. It's not just a plastic liner, there is nothing to rust.

he must not have had a 2nd gen because there completly made of fiberglass and plastic...last time i checked these dont rust haha

OP's friend must not have 05+

^^This is correct. 1st gens (pre '05) have metal beds.

HaHa....I will. Guess a $35K Tundra comes with a metal bed.....LOL
