I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
It looks like majority posting in this thread should have bought Tundra....
I know both starts with "T" its hard right.

I want Toyota to go back to ruts and make next version Tacoma like its sister from Down Under. Simple, brutal, small UTE so you can toss bunch of firewood on the back and haul home. :D

Fix the front end shake above 55 mph, more manual transmission availability across all models. Other than that, I'm happy.

So you took map lights from a "1991" and installed them in a far newer vehicle because it did not come equipped with them??? makes about no sense to me...

So I'm not going to elaborate on ways they can improve the tacoma. Owners and forum members have said the same things since 2005. Since then, small creature comforts were added to stay ahead of the competition.
The only way we are going to see a real change in the tacoma will be when they have a real competitor and start taking some of those marketing sales.
I'll be honest, they are not far from having a perfect all around truck for the everyday homeowner/small family vehicle but toyota needs to listen to their customers and adhere to some of those constructive comments/complaints.
And for all of you that say you don't need all these stupid add on creature comforts well guess what? Toyota listened to you and they offer a base model just for people who want the bare minimum.

I went his whole route, and even ended up trading in my first Tacoma for a Camry, because of the creature comforts. Needless to say, I had that car for about two months, and realized that while the upgrades were nice, they weren't practical for people actually use a truck. After those two months, I ended up trading the Camry and on my current Tacoma, and couldn't be happier. They come with leather, navigation, the only thing not offered that I could understand would be a sun roof. While I opted for the leather, heated seats, sunroof, and entune with navigation in my Camry, I skip all of these in my Tacoma. Not because I couldn't afford them, because I didn't find them necessary on a truck.

Don't own a 2nd gen. but A Steel bed and a power rear window would be nice. Maybe I'm old school but the plastic bed is what turned me off and I'm sure there are others.

So midsize trucks have to be sparse and anyone else that wants more features should have to step up to a much larger truck they don't need. Perfect logic. Besides, even the Tundra lacks some stuff other full size trucks have, at least in it's current generation.

Not sure why everyone is in the business of making excuses for the Tacos features, or lack there of. There's certainly nothing it lacked that kept me from getting one, but it lacks stuff that vehicles i owned that were late 90s model years.

Like anything else, offer bare bones versions, but have the options for those that don't want to roll up their own windows and listen to records.

Yes, because futures you want are available in trucks that were park next to the one you bought.
Makes no sense to buy Tacoma than want Tundra futures. Thats like buying happy meal and saying I want NY style pizza. Or like buying moped and whining it can not do wheelies.

some valid (I think, some not so much)

5L engine so those owners will say how weak the 4.0 is.

only 1 transmission type so no more which is better threads, either is fine w me.

TWO TIRE GROUP TPMS for 2 tire sets!!!!

    300lb more payload....if a 97 Dakota can haul 2000lb ........nm

No diesel, we need something to gripe about here, just add more stock turbos.

Bench seat is decent, but a 60/40 with recline would do better.

Retro tailgate w raised letters. (yea, why not)

    2lo ability

Wider leg area, right leg often rests on the shift area plastic trim, but its not too bad

Change the name to Targee, or something, Tacoma is a flat town on I-5 south of seattle.

    :crapstorm:
