I am familiar. My Grandmother gets continually raped by the Buick dealer but she insists on going back to them. I just don't get old people.

    Says Tesla...

For Top Gear, they ran one of those cars full blast around a track. Go figure the car won't go 200 miles when wide open throttle, sliding sideways around a track.

The Times reporter, the data shows different from what he reported and he got in trouble for it.

In either case, to get 200+ miles on a charge the weather has to be right and you can't use any accessories like heat or a/c.

Funny how the fan boys in that blog are all kissing the CEO's ass.

Still I would not mind having one. I would really need to look at the charging stations across the US first before purchasing.

Me, either. It would be perfect for my drive to work and back every day. Helps that they are cool-looking cars.

Says the data pulled from the car...

Plus the Top Gear had the failure in the script before they even received the car.

Top Gear tested the Tesla in Season 12, which aired 12-14-2008. It's old news and an older model on the Tesla.

They've got a master plan to take over the world. If you believe in it, you can buy one and invest in that plan.

Elon is insanely intelligent and is (2nd hand knowledge) a motherfucker of a boss. He expects perfection, always, and he's got a plan... Seems to be working... Despite all the people who have preexisting opinions on alternative fuel cars and try to lump him and tesla into the same category as previous technology.

He is also the CEO of the first private company to ever launch, orbit, and recover a spacecraft.

He also was a founder of PayPal.

I dont really think that him (maybe) overestimating a loss caused by bad press is that big of a deal. The guy's achieved a lot. Who knows... The New York Times is a big news source. Having a bad review based on lies might cause some huge losses in the future.

I say the same thing about the prius. They cost double what my used Corolla did, and average 45mpg while I could get 40 with the Corolla. If they got 80 or 100 mpg's, then maybe. But right now I don't see the advantage to me.

However, it's like the chicken and the egg. Who comes first? Cheap, efficient, worth buying models or the more expensive, inefficient models? They need to sell SOMETHING to prove there's market demand for ANY green/hybrid/electric vehicle, get them on the road, provide demand for the infrastructure, etc. Then they can mass produce, license technology to other companies, optimize, and drive cost down.

As much as I hate the Prius, I do credit it with making hybrids more "main stream" and getting other car companies to start making them. In a few more years a hybrid might even be worth me buying it. :D

If the big few auto companies really made hybrid a reality, efficiencies would be through throat, I'm sure big oil makes incentivized them to make all hybrids or electric look like a geek mobile so there is not enough interest

I have young ones too. They do the same, and know proper safety.
