got a problem with my frame

i have a 2006 tacoma with 170,000 miles on i was servicing it & found that my frame rails are all rotted away over the rear axle & cracked around the spring stops. the cross member over the axle is rotted as well.
i called toyota & they said there is nothing they can do for me. has anyone else had this rust problem i even had it undercoated from the dealer when i bought it

This might be a good opportunity to check my 06. Got me worried.

 

I'm starting to regret getting my Tacoma,I bought it because I heard you can't kill a Toyota,now, I'm not so sure,very disheartening, is this what I have to look forward too?

 

Keep your frame clean and touch up little rust spots before they become large, and that will prevent most of it.

 

Why is Toyota still having these problems?

 

x2! My 05 frame is still pretty rust free, but it appears to have been treating at some point into the owning process. The aftermarket 5100's are also coated in whatever they used to treat the frame.

 

That's me for sure , salt water , salt water fog , salt water rain , salt water snow

 

You could run it through salt water car washes too

 

I do that to rinse off the road salt

 

We have a lot of salt on the roads in the winter too but I don't know that my Tacoma saw much of that prior to me owning it. I bought it in 2011 with 11,800 miles on it and the frame has been treated at least once after the factory so it is probably not the trend setter for how the frames will last for 2nd gens.

 

i had a 1992 with 350,000 miles on it & the frame didnt rot out on that one. this truck hasnt been no where as good as that one.

it's nothing new for toyota trucks.
