Plus the manual's OD is way lower geared than my auto. 0.85:1 for you and 0.72:1 for me. That is a few hundred rpm difference at 75mph. That Tundra tranny's 6th gear is 0.57:1

EDIT: Whoa... meant to edit my previous post not quote it. haha

Nice, and I will give you that.. 6th gear is geared way to low.. I almost hate shifting into it if I'm not going above 40-45

I do too. They are more fun to drive on the street, but I don't use my Tacoma on street much.

Same here I've always had manual trans vehicles. Plus you can usually gt better mileage with the manual if driven like "grandma".. I like being able to engine brake and save my brakes too.

Ever been rock crawling with a manual? It involves too much riding the clutch and killing and restarting the engine. I think that would take all of the fun out of it...

The 5spd auto has better MPG gearing than the 6spd manual. I for one think it is a ploy by Toyota to get people to convert to the auto by giving it a better EPA rating. Then maybe in the future they won't have to spend the R&D to build a manual tranny. You can engine brake with an auto too. Just downshift.

I want one so bad and 2 grand is just to buy it. You are typically into it 3 grand after all is said and done because you have to change the length of your driveshafts.

I can get a manual trans for about $500 right now but if I see one for around $300 I'm going to snag it and surprise my dad with a new summer project while I'm home. Should only take a good weekend though.

good thing toyota thought about this... clutch start cancel button oh ya!!

plus with a clutch u can always feather the clutch to keep the rpm up when u need to get the wheels warm on a rock or let the mud out of the thread or better yet get that southern bump just right so you can slam down on the rocker panels when you get over that rock that you shouldnt have tried for in the first place :D
