I need help getiing the perfect truck

I have an endless choice and i gotta spend less then 28k

i was thinking about getting a Blue Metallic 4x4 6 speed automatic double cab. but im not sure which package to get with it.
and im new to this website so i didnt know where to find help for this and it said if your new to come to this forum thing so im here. sorry if i broke some rules, please forgive me and tell me where to go.

Are you looking at getting a Sport or Off-road edition?

 

with 28k you should be able to get any 08 truck that you want, it all depends on what you want it to do
i recently bought an 08 TRD Sport 4x2 Dbl cab in Silver, i didnt need 4x4 as i dont offroad and i got the dbl cab b/c i love driving and so everyone always rides with me

 

I want to go offroading really bad
ive gone in someone elses truck and had a blast
and i need help qith like suspensions and stuff
i was looking at tuff country 6 inch performance suspension my the 09 and it looked pretty nice
and i was going to get 35 tires and 17 inch rims
does all this seem right?
im gettin all this around 2.5 grand

 

Why not just look around get a whole package deal. The dealership where i bought my 05 at usually has already lifted TRD Sport/Off-Road V6 4x4 Tacoma's. Comes with i think a Procomp 3" lift or maybe even Kings, 33 BFG's on 17" XD wheels (i know you said 6" and 35), all for around 33k. Don't know if other dealerships do the same. I know there are some out here in Socal that do. Look at the dealerships in your area and see what they have.

I mean your looking to spend 28k and add on 2.5-3k+. So it almost equals out to how much your gonna pay after you do add-ons. Just my 2 cents.

I have an 09 TRD double-cab 4x4 sport with a tow package. I got it for 27.2 out the door. It is new and should be good for everything. Sport has better interior fabric then base. Sport also has 18" wheels. Great for the street, snow and off road. What else could anyone want?

If you have a Costco membership, I'd recommend using that to get the lowest no haggle price in your area. Just go to costco.com and fill out the form.

I got my truck for $250 below invoice price + $2000 mfg rebate which put me down in the low $24k range (+ TTL).

 

Man Costco has the hook-ups on pretty much everything now-a-days.

 

If you want to offroad really really bad...get the TRD Offroad package...

 

I would say a TRD OR 4x4 but I would look at 3 inch lifts in comparison to a 6. 6's fine but require some cutting of the crossmember. A 3 inch lift with some 33's would get you most anywhere you would wanna go.

But also you could just buy a base model and outfit it with a ARB Locker and lift and you may come in lower than buying a TRD OR.

 

Yeah, the tacoma on my profile is probably the one i am getting.
and ill get the TRD offroad package.
but what kind of lifts should i get? and rims and tires?
i was going to choose 6 inch but i wasnt going to install it, i was going to take it to a mechanic place and get in on. and i just like how the 6 inch looks, i dont think the 3 inch does much difference. and forgive me, im new to trucks, but i would rather choose a tacoma before anything else.

 

Just a suggestion, I'm not trying to come off as a doucher, but at 16 years old, how long have you been driving? And if you are new to trucks, wouldn't it be better to get used to a truck before worrying about lifting it? My brother's lifted truck(s) just felt way too big, as I have always driven a sports car. It took a while to get used to looking over people.

Yea i just noticed your age too. Where does a 16 y/o get loot like that. Either way your going a good route getting a Tacoma.

As far as lifts go, search through the forum. Every person will say this one is better or that one is better. All a matter of opinion. If price is not an option then find the most expensive one you can find and roll with it.

Don't just get a 6" lift cause you like the look of it. Think about practicality. If your truck is gonna be a daily driver then 3" will be just perfect. Im sure most everyone on this forum is around or at 3". Look in the Photos Thread to see what diffrent setups people are running. Gas prices are killer right now. Especially with the summer months coming, thats when prices start skyrocketing. I hate having to drop down to 89 or 87 octane in the summer.

 

ive been driving ever since i was like 14, i would do it in like the cul de sac with my dad, and he had an avalanche and at first it was horribly hard but i got used to it.
and if i get the 6 inch, how would that affect my gas mileage? like how many miles a gallon can i get?
and ive been saving for a LONG time. and my granddad passed away a while ago and he was a wealthy man and he gave quite a bit of money.

Driving around the cul de sac doesnt exactly count as driving. Ive only been driving for a couple years and I dont think I have experience at all.

I say you go for an 05+ TRD OR with a 3 inch lift and use the extra money for mods. 6 inch lift isnt as practical for someone whos not gonna offroad that much.

Or save some of the money for college

Thats my opinion though.
