Maybe sign up for a bank local to your current area so that you can cash it? :notsure:

That's the only idea I could come up with. Or go to the bank with a person I trust who already has an account and have them cash it.

Edit: Somebody just told me that as long as you have the person write cash on the "pay to the order of" line, you can use it anywhere.

Yeah, finally selling my old truck and the guy's bank will only deposit what's left on the loan into the account. So he's giving me the other $1,000 in a check. Now hopefully everything goes through like it's supposed to! If so I'll have new tires within the next week or two :D

I've gone to Bank of America several times and cashed checks for more than 2k and all they ask for is a drivers license and they finger print you

Awesome, so even though the check was in your name and you didn't have an account with them they cashed it correct?

Yep! But I will say it was a check from someone who banked with them. I do not. But check was in my name and all they cared about was my license and for some weird reason finger print

Hmm, the other person banks with USAA. I'll just have them make the check out to "cash". If they can't do that I'll call different banks to see if they'll cash it I guess.

Hey man, after reading a lot of your posts in different threads about mounting your gear and not wanting anything permanent so you can use your bed when you need to I had an idea for you.

It may not be a perfect solution but I needed the same solution. My problem is that I need my truck to do a lot of different things. It's my rockcrawler, my grocery getter, family hauler, daily driver, expedition rig and help the neighbors move rig. Sometimes I need the bed totally empty so I can haul stuff. Other times it's loaded with trail gear. Other times (since I have 4 kids) I have seats mounted in the bed, and sometimes my bedrack. I wanted a way to make things was easy to change from one configuration to the next as I could.

My bedrack uses 6 bolts. I can remove it (or install it) in less than 5 min. The seats in the bed are mounted to a frame that mounts using 4 bolts. those can go in or out in about 5 min. For a bunch of the smaller stuff I didn't want it all mounted separately and have a ton of holes drilled in the bed floor to mount it all.

So I built a simple wood platform that is cut to fit around the wheel wells. It's basically just a second floor. I covered it with some rubber treadplate mat. But I have several smaller things mounted to that deck. One of my CO2 tanks is mounted to it, my fridge mount is mounted to it. There are several tie down rings for other things I want to strap down. This whole deck is bolted down with 4 bolts in the same 4 holes I use for the seat mounts. So no extra holes. But it gives me the ability to remove the entire deck at once and be back to a regular bed for the times I need it without a bunch of trail crap in the way.

For me it's been the ideal setup. With the bedrack and the floor deck I have dual layer storage for everything I need to have with me in most situations and in roughly 5 min I can have it all in or out of the truck. And you can do it with just 4 holes in the bed to hold the deck.

Here's a few pics of my deck to show you what I'm talking about.

Seats mounted through the deck and bed floor but hold the deck down. CO2 tank mounted to deck. Fridge mount mounted to the deck. They're not in these pics but there are two tiedown tracks on the deck as well for tying anything else down.

Wow, thanks for that! I may just do that, seems like the best option! Thanks for the help! +1

    In other news.....
So I may be getting new tires tomorrow.... :yay:

All I have to do is hope Walmart or Check-Into-Cash will cash the $1,000 check I have. Sucks having a local bank now that I'm 500 miles away! Haha This also means I won't take my pain meds tomorrow so I can drive....
