    Folks,

Starting to get hot down here on the Gulf Coast. Every now and then need to leave truck (2010 RC 4x4) idling with the air to keep various electronics cool (computers and such). Doors are always locked, but thought a club locked on steering wheel or something just to keep them from driving away. Dont have an alarm as no one down here would pay it any attention. Any suggestions on how to secure it?

    Bobby

Welcome to TW Bobby, I think your only option without getting to complicated is a Club, maybe a club and a Steeringwheel to brake pedal locking arm too?

It may be a bit complicated, but you could get a quick release steering wheel so when you leave your truck you just take your steering wheel with you...

If a locked door won't stop them, a club won't either.

    you mean bed monkey.
OP what about a remote start system? You could shut the truck off, step out, lock the doors, then activate the remote start. IIRC you can change the settings to have the remote starter run for X amount of minutes before it shuts off.
Unless you're a manual transmission, then it may not be legal in your state.
Edit: just looked at your info on the left, says manual.

Yeah! Steering wheels can be cut so the club would be totally useless. You could get a snake.

I have a spare key I use to lock the doors when I walk away. Windows are dark enough that they'd have to get right up on the truck to see anyone, so that deters a lot of people I'm sure.

Want a remote start so that I can get the AC going ahead of time this summer here in Florida...will most likely do that before black leather seats so I don't fry my ass in the summers...

I leave mine running with AC on all the time and never had a problem.

It helps if you have one of these inside.

Club makes a steering wheel shield for that. Together the two parts would be effective for leaving the truck unattended short term.

For long periods of time, the truck will be vulnerable to smash-and-grabs anyway with all the electronics inside...

Remote start for sure. It can be left running for a predetemined amount of time. If someone breaks in, or touches any of the controls(Gas, brake)the vehicle shuts off. Depending on which model remote start you get, you can have a pager that reaches up to 3 miles away, or an iphone app that has almost unlimited range as long as you have service.
