Pizza Cutters are on!

Decided to give Rugged Terrains a try on my 2011 TRD, went with 235/85/16s (I like the tall, narrow look)...Noticed right off the bit easier turning and they are quieter than the Rugged Trails on the freeway. Will be logging a few thousand miles over the next week, should tell the tale.

I love the look of 255/85/16's and had planned on going to 235/85/16's after my current 265's wear out but that's a bit too thin for me.

 

That almost looks too narrow and unsafe. Toyota has a OEM standard size for a reason. Any smaller than OEM and you've got a lot more weight pushing a skinny little tire. I'd be worried they wouldn't hold very well.

Not my cup of tea, but just my two cents.

 

I don't think there is any issue of them being unsafe , I think 255 is as narrow as I want to go though

i dont think safety should be a concern, but those do look pretty funny IMO.

As long as they are safe to be mounted on the wheel width I don't see an issue. I agree with Oz though. I really like my 255s.

 

They are less than 1/2" narrower than 245/75R16's non-trds come with from factory so should not be a safety issue.

Tall and skinny isn't for everyone, but it came out as I anticipated/hoped. I'll post up after I return from my trip to Central Cali first of April, should put about 4k on them by then.

 

I went with the 255/85s also.
235s like the 255s only come in LT so I don't see any safty problems.

 

depending which tire you get there is some variance in width, my 235's looked wider than that. they were just as wide as stock. they are history now... safety was never a concern for me, they drove great.

 

I'd like 'em better with a little pepperoni. Skinny's have a purpose and congrats to those willing to run opposite of popular opinion and do what they want.

Let us know if you gain any MPG. I've been thinking about going to 245's when the 265's on my Sport wear out.

 

New Ford F-150s come with 235/75R17, even with the ecoboost. These just have more sidewall.

Skinny is better in a lot of situations. I would like 235's just for their added ice traction and hydroplaning resistance.
