That's alright man, it is kind of a hopeless endevour anyway. My guess is the install itself is cake, but getting it to work right would be next too impossible... No way to mod the ECU to accept a different tranny I imagine... Plus I couldn't afford to buy that tranny anyway. haha

what are you wanting?? faster shifts? Check out the IPT upgrade...costs like 600 bucks though..my dad is considering it as it'll work better with the SC

It's the tranny for the 2nd Gen Tundra with the 4.6L. My tranny is the A750F and the Tundra is the A760F. The first 5 gears ratios of that tranny match mine exactly but the 760 has a 6th gear (a 2nd overdrive). It wouldn't do a stock Tacoma any good but with my 4.88 diffs gears that would bring my 75mph rpms down from 2700 to about 2100.

Due to the similarities between the two tranny's I'm betting it is the exact same tranny and they just shoved an extra gear into it so it would likely bolt right up to my motor. The catch would be getting the ECU to shift into that 6th gear though...

The 5.7L Tundra runs the AB60F tranny which has much different gear ratios though.

You would probably have to do a custom ECU. MegasquirtIII or something.

I also be the bell housings are different, but the tranny bolt pattern could be similar.

I didn't think there were any custom ECU options for Tacomas, just piggy back systems.

    I could just do a 4.6L swap:cool: Achieve a 61 ftlb and 74 hp boost:rofl:

well Megasquirts are just an ecu..you can wire it to do anything. EFI, Carb, anything. You just buy it either preassembled or you can build it yourself. Have seen a few 3rx turbo guys do it, bunch of supra guys and everything else in between. But, you have to know how to tune EVERYTHING in the motor..thats whats a bit scarey..haha

and well..then you could SC it..and get your 6 gears...haha

One thing that would really make having that 6th gear nice, would be if they ever came out with 5.29's for the 2nd gens or if I SAS'd I could go with 6.XX or higher gears but still have a reasonable rpm at high speeds.

It's not too big of a deal with the 33's, my rpm at 75mph is almost identical to yours 2600-2700. Would be interesting to see if there would be a gain in fuel economy though. If anything might be a little nicer on the motor for it to be running at a lower rpm on those long trips. Less wear and tear.

Oh im sure the torque is crazy. But for long trips..would suck.

yea thats true..but i started at 2500rpm for 65..haha mine was made to live up there..

yours is like 2100 at 70 if i remember right with my dads..

im sure you would gain some mpgs back easily.

I mean, most guys are running 4.56s for 35s in 2nd gens :notsure: I just think with the power of a 2nd gen..4.88s was too much for light skinny 33s.

That was a pretty fun day. Was pretty funny to see your surprise when I opened it up on that road. haha. Now if I could just get my hands on an S/C

I imagine Monte's Dad's pulls a lot harder than mine though. I raced Brant once and wasn't that much faster than him (He beat me off the line though, I didn't know we were powerbraking that round. haha). Although he has a whole new exhaust setup with no cats and an intake so he may have a tad more power than me.

Nah! It's a blast and yeah, I run about 450-500rpm higher than factory at 75 mph with my setup. 35's would bring that to a 300-350rpm difference.

Almost all of the 4.56 and 35's guys are manuals. They run almost 200rpm higher than me at 75 even with the bigger tires.

Not yet he is in the market for an S/C though and possibly a regear too.

I should try to race Konsta one of these days and see if he just leaves me. haha

Or smaller tires and a field stripping of all un-necessary weight. haha Then it would get really fast!

How is that the problem? haha I run at lower rpm than the manuals. If you go to 4.88's and 35's you will be running at about 2950rpm at 75mph. Silas was running about 2700rpm with his 5.29's and 35's.

Wow! A factory 6spd 2nd gen runs at 2600rpm at 75mph So I probably have nothing to worry about right now. haha
