Pretty nice Mitch! I've told myself to do the relocation of the trailer plug but I never get around to it. My current one is all jacked up and ghetto rigged to hold the plug.

And the guy at Oakley told me I can 'bend the bill no problem!'

I need an 8" not an 8.4". I thought it was an 8 when I picked it up. Costly mistake haha!

Is the 8" for the front diff I assume? Because the only 8" rear diffs in Tacomas already have the e-locker in them.

Oh so you didn't even buy it for a Tacoma. And yes the front diff on 2nd gens is an 8" may not run the same locker as an 8" rear though I imagine. It's listed as a Toyota 8" reverse clamshell. The 1st gen front diff is listed as a 7.5" though.

Oh snap well then my bad. Maybe someone can check the ARB part numbers and see if it can fit in the front

Anton, I forgot to update you with my pinion flange. I shook it left, right, up, down with no play. When I grabbed the flange and turned it(like a steering wheel) there was very little play and I assume that's normal? I made a dent on that part you circled for me so I am good now but it still makes that noise so I'm going to ride it out until it breaks on me I guess.

I read online that the torque spec for that is 65lbs but no way in hell was I able to get a socket in there so I just tighten that sucker down, drove it and made sure it was still tight.

    Thanks again.

If you're getting a wurring noise then its your bearings. If you hear a clunking then you're missing some teeth on your ring gear.

Can't believe I'm replying to this but here goes...

    1. Wet the bill with water
    2. Wrap bill around bottle (empty beer bottle preferred)
    3. Wrap with rubber bands and let dry
    4. Use and enjoy!

It's for sure a wurring noise. My pinion bearing? I know for sure it's coming from the 3rd member area because when I jack up the rear(with the front tires on chalk blocks of course) and put it on drive the noise is pretty obvious, especially once I let go of the gas pedal after 40+mph.

Lol well it's glad to see you lurking around still after selling your Taco and thanks! Didn't think about wetting the bill.

Sounds like pinion bearings. I'd check the u joints as well but with that many shavings in your oil I'm 99% sure you'll need to rebuild your diff with new bearings and most likely pinion and ring gear.

Anyone want to make a trip down to Eugene and dive into a HPOP pull and re-seal job with me? My 7.3 Powerstroke isn't being as bulletproof as it's supposed to be.

Took it to Oregon Fuel Injection thinking they'd be able to just replace the o-rings for me and it'd be easy and done. No, they say it's leaking from where it connects to the reservoir and the entire pump needs to be replaced. To that I say, F*** you. It's a damn pump. Unless it's got a crack in the side that's leaking, why shouldn't it be an o-ring/gasket job? The truck has 140K on it. These motors can go much longer than that without a major thing like the HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump)

So, I bought a full gasket / o-ring set for it. $100 cost versus the $1000 they wanted. Even if I do take the thing out and discover it's screwed up, the pump is $450ish. Still much less than $1000.

    So... who's in?
