Oh and I finally sold my stock tires!! :) They have 2,000 miles on them. I feel better having them cleared out of my mother in laws house (poor mom, she's always got something of mine stored at her place...) I kept the wheels though.

Oh and another thing. I found out about a week and a half ago that I have the hearing of an 80 year old. The Audiologist said that was NOT NORMAL. Yeah. She said it in capitals.

That makes me rather sad and depressed.

Actually it makes me VERY sad... :(

You should get a test, seriously. I knew that one of my ears sounded stuffy all of the time due to a collapsed Eustachian tube. Nothing they can do other than put in a tube to open it up but that would allow infection. So I opted out.

What made me go for a test is that I could never understand one of my co workers and sometimes I just couldn't hear others at all.

The test results were a huge shock to me. Permanent damage and it will only get worse over time. I could be completely deaf one day.

    This is really scaring me.

Just yesterday I couldn't hear the siren of an ambulance. Good thing I saw the lights.

I work early in the morning (3am) and have to park a decent distance from the door of my work. I cannot hear if someone is about to mug me in the dark.

I cannot hear if cars are coming up behind me when I ride my bike.

I cannot hear if someone walks into the house. So I always have the alarm on when I am home alone.

This is all so new to me. I'm very very upset by this.

I'm not that bad yet. I do have issues understanding conversation if there is much background noise. Also, i find i have to turn the tv up to the point where my wife complains to catch all the dialog clearly.

It's pretty scary to not have the sense of hearing. Hope there's something they can do for you. Like a hearing aid?

I guess this is one reason I've been (mostly) careful and worn earplugs when participating in loud activities. But the thing is, it's not just loud stuff but long term exposure to constant noise can have an impact too.

Good luck to you. And yeah, Seth have your hearing tested if you think it's a problem.

Thanks Ian. Yeah, I had an appt to talk about hearing aids. I am considering selling my new Lexus I got for my birthday because the cost is the same...:(

Seth, sounds like you may have sensorineural loss. Those are the same symptoms I had.

I guess that's why I haven't been here too much lately. Been pretty bummed out by this. I haven't even been on the forums I run.

Poop. Apparently big o tires and the other tire store I went to cannot take out my TPMS sensors and put in generic valve stems. They claim it's a liability issue "if you come here with TPMS, you leave with TPMS" :( The guy I'm going to for my alignment cannot break the beads on my tires since his machine broke but he said he could mount my tires and balance them no problem. Looks like I'm going with Jason's tape on the dashboard method and using generic valve stems. I'm not paying shit loads of money to get new ones reprogrammed.

Well looks like I'm getting new tires mounted and balanced at les schwab and my tpms switched over, then at another place I'll get my alignment. The guy said it's a big job to mount 33's on new wheels and balance them and to leave my truck there all day...does that even sound right?

I don't know about a big deal, but it does take 3-4 hours. I usually allow them as much time as they need since I'd rather have them take their time than rush and f something up.

On a tire related note, America's Tire in Campbell sucks big hairy balls. I took my tires in there twice since I bought (used) them to get rebalanced. Both times I got them back shaking all over the road. The last time was scary to drive with. The guy told me my tires weren't round anymore and won't balance right no matter what they did. Ended up taking it to a local shop with a road force balancer and they got it perfect. Plus they did it for free since I've gotten other tires balanced there and alignments. Now I actually enjoy driving my 4runner again.

On my shop's tire machine, i can peel off old tires put on new ones, balance and mount on the truck in about 30-45 mins. but at a busniess, they gonna have a lot more jobs so 3-4 hours sounds right.

Ahh gotcha. I'm going to cry if they break a tpms sensor or something. I told them I would bring it by in the morning and pick it to whenever it was done. Someone pop into the live thread for me please and look at the picture I just posted. I'm trying to cut for 33's and don't know what's going to rub yet.

Have you searched for the TPMS fix where you throw the sensors in a pressurized PVC capsule and just throw it behind the rear seats? I guess you could do that if the little light on the dash is that much of a bother.

    ...too much shit to list.
Can't you just ground out one of the TPMS with the 2nd gens?
Before I swapped my sensors I was able to do that to both my Tundra and the 4runner. Easy to undo too once I swapped the sensors.

Won't need to. I have to get them swapped over and mounted at another store then aligned at the place I want them aligned at. Today was just a crappy day at work so that guy having his machine break was no surprise.

Anyone install the cam tab gussets? Are they a pain or relatively straightforward?
