When I throw the high beam switch, everything comes on all at once.

Fighting fire with fire. I don't like to do that, and probably shouldn't have done it, those lights are bright and intentionally aimed fairly high since they are long range lights. People like that just piss me off though. There's no reason to run an HID kit in a reflector housing. To me, it's just a blatant disregard for anyone else on the road.

I think it might have been better if you could step it. Let the meathead think they've got your worst and then realize it was just the start of it!

Some years ago at my ex's house, her next door neighbor's kid was having a pool party and blasting the teeny bopper crap (N Suck, the Backdoor Boys) and her mother couldn't sleep. I suggested going over and asking nicely but got vetoed, as the parents had been jerks to her mother for a while. So I said "don't worry, I got this"..walked outside and opened up the trunk of the 1984 Olds Delta 88 I had at the time. Then I turned the car on..and one at a time the 3 amplifiers lit up. In went my Slayer CD and up to 1100 watts we go!

I can step them, I can control any pair of lights on the front of my truck separately but it would have taken too long to mess with switches. I just throw the high beam switch and everything comes on

Agreed. Unfortunately a lot of tards just throw the hids into relectors, especially in high trucks. Probably a mix of legit not researching/ knowing what they are really doing, and idgaf.

I think you meant reflectors. HID's in projector housings are the way to go. HID's in a reflector housing meant for a halogen bulb = no good (and technically illegal).

Or the "brighter is better" theory. I had the same thoughts on car audio as a kid, the louder the better even if it's with low quality products and distorts to shit.

Failed theory when it comes to headlights. Sure they are brighter but if it's not accurately put down the road where you can use it, they're useless. I'll take a good set of projectors and an HID kit over the drop in kits any day. It's more money but the results are 100% worth it.

Exactly..you end up with my friend's old AMC when we were kids. He crunched one of the headlights in an accident so bought fogs as a short term fix while we boneyarded for parts to fix it. He put them in himself and didn't bother aiming them so he was lighting up every tall tree he drove by.

I figure I'll wait a while to go HID..or maybe just get a bull bar and do it that way. See what you started Mike?

If you want distance lighting, just my $0.02 but don't go with a bull bar, go with a light bar that puts the lights higher up. Fog lights are fine to be mounted lower, distance lights should be mounted higher to get the most out of the lights.

About $100/pair +/- depending on how much you shop around.

Yup, they are bright as shit but scatter the light all over the place near the output, not correctly funneling/ directing it out.

Plus there's no cutoffs, so they just end up blinding the shit out of everyone.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
Wow its only one wire and it lights up the front maps as well as the dome light when you open the door. I'm surprised more of you don't even consider doing this. I hate the fact that Toyota cheaped out on the ring around the ignition on our trucks.

I rarely ever use my dome light. Forget I even have it most of the time.

I refuse to do this mod and you can't make me!

    LOL I don't have a map light that's why :)

I'm used to being cheaped out on as a regular cab owner..

I know, just giving you a hard time :boink:

I'm still waiting for Flyeyez to tweak their design and will likely go that route. For now, I think it needs some changes or I might just install a couple LEDs below the radio facing down. Otherwise, I don't use the interior lights very often anyways

True..I like your setup a lot just gonna take me some time and cash to get there. The bar would also be a nice piece of armor for parking lot idiots.

The bar might get some protection but it's not overly well braced back to anything substantial. If someone really hits it, it'll bend or break but it is stronger than a bull bar.

Nope, we got a Honda Accord a few months ago. Actually just started another thread this morning about the maintenance requirements for it. Dealership wants $479 for the 30k mile service
