Oil got from the upper driver side corner of your engine compartment through the catch ring, all the way the rear end under your truck on the rear diff?:eek: holy hell I'd love to hear how you managed that!? :what:

    Rust, lots of rust
I've had an oil leak for at least a year now, still hasn't reached my rear diff.

My truck leaked oil from the same spot and it was from the rear main seal from the drivetrain sperating just far enough to pinch the seal...
Toyota wanted $1400, my machanic $400
I'm guessing it was from the same reason as Anthony's from hitting a rut

Must be a retard thing. There is no way that oil catch residue reached your REAR diff. Maybe the front but no way it hit the rear.

Dude why would I lie about that?? Driving around with that shit on the block/frame and it flinged off the front and hit the rear diff? Idk it was on my exhaust and cross member too. Same thing happened when my driver side CV axle seal blew and leaked my front diff fluid.

This was after the first time I changed my oil, not realizing my oil filter catch didn't have the little rubber cap on the drain. Now I have one and when I change my oil I just stick a beer bottle under there to catch the oil drip from the filter.

Just throwing out the possibility...you guys are harsh :(

EDIT: If you don't believe me, ask Kenny. I freaked out the first time I saw it and asked him, and that was where we traced it back to.

Don't worry, I've been flammed more than my fair share of times. Plenty of people dislike me on here, some even in this thread. But remember.... this is the freakin internet man, who gives a fuck what anyone else thinks.

On another note, I still can't quite comprehend how oil got from your filter to your rear diff and what 4x4 has to do with that
