    I am considering parts 1 and 2 of this trip. The only thing that will get in the way is dates or funds. I am new to wheeling but by the time this trip happens I will have Moab and a few other trips under my belt.

    I only read the first couple pages hope I didn't miss anything in the other 27 pages!

    I have been wanting to do the Alpine Loop for the past couple of years since I moved to CO. So as the trip gets closer, I should know if I will be in town or not. I live in Buena Vista, CO and would like to meet up for that leg.
    Once you get the dates for that leg figured out, I should know better. If it is a weekend, it will make it easier for me!

    How much is the elevation going to play into my trucks power? I am from Illinois so I might need a tune before I start to wheel?

    BAMF Sliders, Short bed, Pelfreybilt Plate bumper, Warn VR 10,000. Might have bigger tires by the time this happens.

    Yes eh should adjust accordingly. Whole point of MAF. The lack of oxygen could impair it. Nothing just disconnecting the battery won't fix

    No, you don't need a tune and you'll be just fine. I drove my truck up over 14,000 feet without issue on 35's and stock gearing. Only people that need to worry about altitude are those with carbs.

    Well I guess I need to buy some bigger tires then! This is the perfect excuse! I have 265/70/16 BFG A/T right now I plan on getting 285/75/16 BFG A/T and doing a cab mount chop during the summer. My guess is I will be fine with that set up.

    If I do the whole thing I would be looking at over $1000 in just gas. I should ship my truck to the start and fly. It might be cheaper. :cool:

    How would that be cheaper? though you would save on mileage.

    Plane ticket might be ~$400 roundtrip. I have no clue what shipping will be. You'll still need lots of gas on this end, Wyoming & Montana are HUGE. like, HUGE man. :p

    You can fly into Billings, or Bozeman, or Cody, Wyoming. Cody is much more expensive than BIL...

    ya thats what kills everyone on these trips. gas is a bitch and out west you measure distance on hours.

    More than likely I would be down for legs 2 & 3 if I did attend. Only reason I voted for August 5th start is because I will be ending my month long Montana road trip near the end of July or 1st week of August so I could take an extra week or so off and just tack this onto the end of my trip.
